You should have full continuity through the resettable TOC the other however could be a thermistor (aka electronic thermostat) its resistance measure in Kohms.

Power off, RH side panel off and try to rotate the motor using a small screwdriver against the cooling fins of the rotor. It should turn easily so don’t force it if it doesn’t lest you damage the motor. The motor will have seized solid so it’s time to get hands on and take it right out. If you see any sign of corrosion under the motor/pump unit then yes it has seized most likely. Fixable usually but faffy 🙁
OR it could just be the 10mf capacitor bolted to the motor that has failed (replacement part no: 00167235)

I’m struggling also as to what could be causing it. The gurgling you mentioned earlier suggests a blockage but you say all hoses are clear.( I guess that includes the sump hose?).
What else is left? Aquastop? Impeller Jug connections on the control unit? Or maybe something stupid like the customer has put detergent in the salt reservoir and now it’s blocked the ion exchange unit?
Just guessing 😕

Heater safety cut out tripping? Poor airflow, vents blocked?

Well firstly it sounds as though the main oven fan element has blown. (I assume it a fan oven as you didn’t give us the full (PNc) number?)
Grill element too might need replacing (usually they warp out of shape then blow!)
It also sounds like a real yucky fat soaked oven. Perhaps if it is not too saturated you can get out the marigolds and oven cleaner? Real bad and seek a professional oven cleaning company.
How old is this oven?

Yep, impeller jug (00607138) needs replacing.

Top of the range virtually with all the bells and whistles hence the weight (the whistles don’t weight much but the bells? 😉 )
Suitable replacement for your old machine but you may want to have an extended warranty just in case as they are costly to fix. Be sure and use salt as the water softener is vital on these machines. Just using 3 in 1 tabs is no good, trust me on that.

char14lew wrote:absolutely Martin, a mechanical fault would cause a fill time out and flag the error code though!
On dry there’s no fill time for it to time out as the water should flow continuously throughout the dry cycle. The OP has discovered that the valve is knackered anyway so my work here is done. 8)

Just double check that the flow meter impeller is rotating freely and that there is adequate water pressure/flow.

char14lew wrote:not familiar with model but if the valves at fault it would show an error code would it not?
Not necessarily, as you’re in the trade you would realise coil resistance can register normal to the electronics yet the mechanics of the solenoid needle warp and jam thus not allowing water to pass 😉

HankMcSpank wrote:– but if this is the case, then if the pump starts when I lift the flood detect float switch, then presumably it can’t be wiring to the motor – concur?
As Dave has said (twice) the drain pump should be activated by the control unit (aka timer) at the start of all programs. If it does not and yet pumps once the float is lifted then the primary suspect is the control unit OR a wire to it from the pump has come adrift.
When you messed with the pump did you knock or pull a wire off? Are the control unit connections fully in place? Has a wire between timer and pump broken on the wiring loom?
That such cover all likelihood I would think 😀

ParticipantRe: Steam From Soap Draw LG F14A8YD5
The symptoms indicate the fault is no water entering the condenser and water inlet valve going faulty is the main reason.

I just looked at the photo on the BSH website Dave. It’s a bit fuzzy but looks like 7PH 1980 when I looked at it with my one good eye and my Patrick Moore monocle.
