Re: bosch washing machine brush motor

Bench testing motors is pretty much a waste of time as the motor needs to be under load to check correctly especially when it comes to running in new brushes. Bench testing flat out and most motors will spark like a Roman candle with new brushes in.

Com sticks sort out the commutator only whereas carbons may need extra TLC to ensure even contact with the com. A fine curved-toothed file perfect for those jobs.

As has been said earlier, genuine brushes are by far the best fit and much less likely to sparkle 😀

Tech questions should be posted in the Trade Tech forum :lesson:

Using the SEARCH facility 😉 I found a number of posts including this…..

There is no way one can associate ‘ladder rungs’ based on price in white goods directly indicating better quality. It doesn’t work that way by any stretch. Often the opposite tends to apply. It’s just a gamble these days, quality went out the window long ago. Spend wisely my friend, do not overspend, those ladder rings are very iffy 😉

A new “modular board” cost £80 so I fail to see what the extra £170 charge is for? More likely the guy doesn’t have a clue as to what is wrong so quoted a silly price so you would say no thanks. 😕

Essentially it’s a connection issue within that needs checking out. From the mains connection into the machine to the connectors on the control module, door lock, inverter board and so on. Mains un-plugged first if you attempt DIY 😉

Brushes have to be ‘run in’ for a period at low speeds. 800 rpm drum speeds ideal.

So this ‘Peter B’ in Ken’s opening post doesn’t have a Miele after all then, is that the conclusion of the jury?

I have to ask, why wouldn’t Miele at some stage produce a sealed unit?

Cheapy pattern brushes are they fase? Or are you running that motor flat out?

That series of error codes (E1?) can also implicate the Pressure Switch as being faulty. Though I’m not convinced as I am more suspicious of an earth leaky heater as a possible or just stick a new valve in and see what gives?

What is the state of the water supply, mains or gravity fed? If the latter, and as the error shows after 5 mins, it could be timing out on the fill, maybe? 😕

Don’t know the direct correlation. In fact I don’t believe there was one. But both Bosch and Hotpoint replacement baskets (if still available?) would be prohibitively costly. 🙁

    Re: Hotpoint DF22 leaking

Whilst I agree with my colleagues that that valve needs changing the actual leak you will find is coming from the matrix chamber directly above that valve. What occurs is that the float unit slightly overfills that chamber and drips water out of the vent hole and down onto the floor via that valve.

The cure is to remove and clear the float unit. Remove the long black rubber hose and clean that out. Reassemble both, replace the valve and Voila! ….sorted 😀

Choose Beko, excellent value for your £280, reliable and cheap to fix should it ever fail.
