Not so bad Andy and yes my tools are still well used.

The ‘gentry’ find an Aga hot plate is the ideal choice. 😈

Yes they do.

r-morris wrote:And yes, Martin is right that it isn’t levelled on the patio and that would help – but bear in mind this machine is only ‘in the workshop’ because of excess vibration rattling/banging noise when in situ in the kitchen. The floor is what it is (even if that is not great); we need a washing machine that can sit there without shaking the house to bits!
By all means replace the shock absorbers as suggested by Dave. It certainly won’t harm to do that but I personally don’t think it will make a bit of difference.
Washing machines require a firm standing. Wooden floors and their supporting joists rock solid. Then the levelling feet adjusted and locked into position and any spin vibration is then and only then greatly minimised.

Indicative of a power supply failure. If the machine stops during a power cut, once the power is restored it will carry on where it left off. So dodgy wall socket or power lead or mains filter problems the prime suspects.

What are they off? Some small appliance maybe?

Looking at the video I’d say that was perfectly normal. Your wooden floor is the issue. If you had ensured the 4 adjusting/levelling feet were level and tightened on that concrete floor demo and with the lid secured in place the vibration would be further minimised, I’m sure.
What state is that wooden floor like I wonder?

All is not lost then. All we need (I’m guessing here Murv?) Is a cordless electric hacksaw and hot glue gun maybe?

For the program to shut down in this way indicates to me a power module problem. Careful examination of the surface components on the board may show a capacitor with a domed cap or maybe a dry joint or even a burnt resistor?

Van signage only requires simple, to the point, facts. Such as ‘Same day service’ ———‘Specialists in all the popular brands’
‘Washers, Dryers, Fridges’———‘Trading Standards Approved’ and so on. New custom only needs to know the basics of what you do in order to prompt contact. Half the time they don’t even know what brand of washer they have until then ring you. Up to that point in their mind the brand is irrelevant, just the mere fact you fix washing machines or whatever, if you catch my drift?Avoid brand naming is the bottom line here.

Motor or heater are at fault here so both need checking. Worn out motor carbon brushes the most likely culprit I would say.

This elderly machine does not show error codes. I suspect someone has accidentally pressed two program buttons together rather than an error indication. Maybe you can clear it by holding those 2 buttons, door closed, then whilst holding the buttons briefly turn machine on then off……fingers crossed!

ParticipantRe: Bosch Exxcel 1400 Spin problem
The earth potential on the motor is the likely problem. In other words there is a live leak to earth across the armature and brush gear. The electronic ‘logic’ of the machines software detects this and fails to increase speed.
You will need to remove and thoroughly check the motor. Given its age the carbons will need replacing and all carbon dust cleaned away from the brush housing. The armature could be suspect so you’ll need check it’s insulation with a meter (preferably a Megger).
