All we men know is where to throw our dirty laundry before it reappears a day or two later back in the wardrobe. I’m willing to bet, like me, you also have no idea where the iron is kept, nor willing to find out either? 😀

How rude of them not to at least tell you that the likelyhood of replacing an Indesit WIXL143H programme board on a machine best part of 10 yrs old is neither feasible nor practical. 🙁

In the Known Error Codes thread you need to look at the EWM2000 series control for the respective error code. As a rule though the error code LED’s (8 in a line) are those on the far right. The first 4 represent the first error number, the last 4 represent the last number. HTH?

Well if the heating element (part no. 00659231) were to be found faulty then they cost £102.59 direct from the Bosch web site. The reset stat (00619335) is £20.82.

If you did indeed terminate a drying cycle before it finished then pressing that reset button will be the cure all solution. Provided of course you don’t interrupt the cycle again. If it failed otherwise then such a simple resolve would not be possible. But let’s cross that bridge when we reach it. 😉

Your John Lewis is a rebadged Zanussi. If you disconnect the dryer heater connections (carefully noting their position first of course) the fault will clear without damaging the PCB.

Dryer elements are prone to earth leakage and cause all sorts of random errors. Temporarily disconnecting will confirm any suspicion and a new element the ultimate cure.

Also the same applies to the water heater, though that is less likely, that too could have an earth leak.

    Sadly fase, no. 🙁

Those clever Germans thought it best not to put an inline fuse in. They got the advice from the Italians who thought the British were stupid enough to think of fitting one on every machine. So collectively they conspired to rid the Brits of any manufacturing of whitegoods. And that’s where we find ourselves today, in Britain trying to fix foreign imported c r ap.

Come the revolution the Brexit Brotherhood will fight them on the beaches AND in the skies. Meanwhile hold on tight, don’t drop your guard, show them you are made of stronger stuff!

Service Manual?…..no chance, we don’t even have them in the trade!

Tips on extracting without damaging floor?…….bits of wood and/or old carpet under the feet as you drag it out. (Remembering firstly to lower the adjustable locking feet of course).

Everything else is like a stroll in the park. 😉

Scary prospect in store for you then. Starting with getting it out and removing the lid, tricky but easy goes it. Do be sure to isolate from the mains before twiddling (they don’t tell you that bit on YouTube)

People always open boxes in store and take bits out. I bet someone took the user instruction booklet.

Did you not read the on-line reviews before you bought it? Especially those less than chuffed about having to poke the exhaust hose through an open window. 😕

As summer is drawing to a close you might want to take it back for a full refund?….. Just saying 😉

I’ve no clue fase, sorry. But the good news is that you have continuity across the pins so chances are the motor is OK. 🙂

On the heater box on top of the drum there is an overheat safety thermostat. Most likely the button on it has popped and it just needs pressing to reset. (Usually occurs when someone turns the dryer off before it has completed its full cycle) 😕

You won’t be able to successfully reconnect fase. Better you replace the motor plug to control board wiring harness (Pt no. 00600111).

(FYI : The positions of the broken three wires in that connector are mirrored by the same connector on the control board.)

No, Tim was referring to the possibility that the heater has a slight earth leak. That causes erroneous program timings and all sorts of crazy things.

You’d be advised to check out the heater with an insulation tester as we do in the trade. No tester huh? Then change the heater. 😉

juicehills wrote:What do you suggest, a washer or two until the drum straightens up?

Yes that often cures. The cup and nylon cone need compressing tighter and the rubber washer can only do that with extra washers. Unfortunately there is limited access to do a more radical mod on the shaft (the nut) end.
