    Re: H/Point TCM570P T/Drier – Heater Earth Fault

Thanks for the info Jim – only just checked e-mail.

Good possibility that it might be lack of filter cleaning as it is shop girls who opperate machine – have mentioned it is important to keep filter and condenser clean and although both looked as if they had just been cleaned got a load of fluff out of filter housing suggesting that they might not be cleaned all that often. Filter was undamaged.

    Thanks for the help

    Re: H/Point TCM570P T/Drier – Heater Earth Fault

Been back to this today and fitted new heater – I couldn’t see any differece between the old and new heater asy so I’m not sure what the mod is that Hotpoint have done to these Heaters? – but did notice quite a build up of crud on the one side of the heater where presumably the fan had been flippin the water.

Looks like there might be still some soap left in the towels that they have washed and it had built up before the drain hole was cleared last time. Presumably when it has got damp through condensation it has absorbed the moisture and gone down to earth again?

Anyway – new heater fitted and checked/cleaned and reflushed float chamber/condenser housing and drain hole and hopefully problems solved.

Would have been nice to see if anyone else had repetitive problems with this and what they found?

    Thanks

    Thanks for the reply Jim

Not sure what the difference is between early and late heater asy so think I will order new heater unit and see how that goes.

    Any other thoughts anybody?

    Thanks Martin

Just waiting for landlady to get back to me after I mentioned that I wasn’t willing to pursue this any further unless she was prepaired to have the cover replaced as part of the repair. I did point out the liabilities from my point and also pointed out hers to.

Interesting about the mech lock stoping the door from closing – didn’t know that either – never stop learing on this job 🙂

Thanks for the info – much appreciated

Re: Bosch WTE6920GB/01 Cond T/Dry – no heat

Hmmm.. thanks for the reply Martin – been to the BHS web site but lists that lock as a mechanical lock (pt no 154183) if I am looking at the right part so not sure as can’t remember seeing any wires going there.. there again looking at the exploded view the temister is somewhere about there and I cant rember seeing any wires to that either so i could be wrong..

Still not sure as cant see why they would switch just the heat off from there??? – thought it might be a float switch prob but would have thought that would have come up with some indication ??

Think this needs another visit but also need to establish if landlandy willing to fork out for new cover anyway as not prepared to stick my neak on the line and do any repair to this machine unless the cover is fitted after the repair to prevent hands in the fan etc.

    Any other comments welcome 🙂

    Thanks for the reply Martin

I saw the latch that sticks down and pressed that but couldnt hear a micro switch opperate so what type of switch is it and does that switch just switch off the heating or the whole machine?

Without the cover on it is possible for little hands to experiment with the blower fan when in use and would be quite dangerous to use with unsupervised children about so would have thought it would have cut the whole machine off or at least the motor?

I didnt know about testing with damp clothing in so that might be the problem – i am sure the landlady or tenant wasnt aware of that either so they might have tested without washing in aswell??

Just looked on Connect for the front cover £44 + yikes – is it made of gold – seems a lot for a bit of plastic!!

    Thanks for the help 🙂

Re: AEG LAV6050DIG – CARBON BRUSHES

    Thanks for the replies guys

Went to the Electrolux Web Site address but the exploded views the same as on my distripart disc which shows motor only 🙁

Looked at changing the carbons into origonal holders but looks like I might have to codge one to fit – the original doesnt look like it has any locating pegs on the metal carbon holder that fits in plastic holder – the one that looks like it might fit has so it might be a case of bending the locating pegs in and see if it fits, but I didn’t want to do that only as a last resort.

Looks like the origanal brushes dont have a part no. ? 🙁

Thanks for the replies but if anyone comes up with a partno can they keep me posted please.

    Thanks

    Re: no work

Been dead for me since Easter – but somebody switched the work switch back on about 2 weeks ago – the only problem is that I’m going on holiday next week !!! so been wrestling with the thought of canceling the holiday because I need the money!!!

I’m just a one man band – been working in this industry for over 35yrs and in my experience never been as quite as this for such a long period. In my experence it always goes quite due to lack of money or finacial uncertancy or both as I think is the case now.

It doesnt help when machines are so cheap – customers think why pay £50-£100 repair on a machine that is 5years old – we have had our money’s worth out of it – might as well buy a new one for £200 and get another 5 years of trouble free washing – rofl

It alo doesnt help when manifactures inbuild into there machines the diagnositic systems that shut the machine down when there is only something simple wrong – customer get confused – MAJOR problem – not worth getting anybody in to look at it – time for new washing machine!!

I have seen a gradual decline in turnover over the last 5-6 years with the advent of cheap washing machines. In those days people would keep there washing machine for 10-15 years – these days you are lucky to get 5yrs out of the crap they sell now and so people are now into the mind set of when it breaks lets go and buy a new one.

Went to a job the other day where her daughter had tried to persude her mom to go and buy a new machine because the timer knob had broken – “Nobody has the washing machine mended these days” was the daughters comment – daughter was in her 40’s but good for mom she had machine mended – but its this mentality that is taking over the public.

I’m lucky the industary has served me well over the years and made a resonable living over the past enough to support a wife at home and three kids through school. I could’t do that now. I have only 4-5 years to go before I hang my hat up (if self employed people ever do?) so just trying to tuff it out till then but my sympathy is out there with all you guys who don’t have that to look forward to.

Sorry I diversed a bit but as they say “money is the root of all evil” or lack of it me thinks…

    Re: Hotpoint WF540 – F10 fault

    Hi folks

Been back – refitted module still same fault altho worked ok till drain off – fitted new pressure switch now works fine. 😀

Looks like you have to fit pressure switch perculiar to that model as tried Indesit pressure switch with same connections last call. Is this due to (I am assuming because there is just 1 click on pressure switch when you blow into it) that the pressure switch works on variable resistance and the click is the fill protection clicking in? If this is so I presume the resistances vary on pressure switches so thats why it was faulting the Indesit pressure switch? :rolls:

Does this mean umpteen visits for this fault or umpteen pressure switches on van?

What has been your experience with this fault?

    Comments apreciated

    Thanks

    Mick
