ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 5 Year parts warranty
Customer told me the other day she had been quoted £90 call out + £40 per 1/4 hour by girl at call center.. I asked her if she was sure of which she was adement thats what she had been told.. but still seems a bit steep to me..
Maybe H/point don’t want to mend their machines anymore???
Don’t know if anyone can conferm or deny this?

Thanks Clive
Looks like a lost job then as I dont think she will pay for new motor.. but you never know..
The motor shaft wasn’t rusty but think the glass in the pump may have been the prob. Can’t belive they dont do thiis part as a spare tho..
Thanks for the help guys.. as motor easy to get out looks like strip down if I get this type of fault again.. presumably the wiring noise is the tell tail sound of the cracked shaft then?

Been back today.. Stripped this and shaft that goes thru impellers and locks the whole asy together is cracked and not in kit..
Is this the shaft you guys on about and its a new motor job.. or is it just missing from kit? Seems crazy to me if a new motor required just for the sake of this part which I would have expected to be in the kit.. but that seems to be this job in a nutshell these days.. :rolls:
Comments appreciated

ParticipantRe: Hoover HNWL6136S : low dryer heat?
That’s about what I would expect as washer driers are condeser driers and only use low wattage as they recirculate air..

Thanks for replies guys..
Needs new block as wire burnt off. Can’t get old piece out as burnt in + even if I could would only be temp repair as burnt off connection would prob overheat again in a couple of months..
Looks like wiring harness special order at Connect so might try old type connector block..
Thanks again

ParticipantRe: Creda Spacesaver D/Wash – no heat
Thanks for your help on this one folks.. checked fill levels and removed filter looked at heater for signs of overheating all seem ok.. as I siad this is a pig to get out and m/c pluged in at back of m/c :rolls: so no chance of megering heater n m/c without load of grief.. checked with connect and most parts special order so customer thinking about whether to go ahead with repair or not atm.. looks like stat or shorted wiring from everybodies comments which is what I suspected so thanks for the imput..
Thanks for the offer of wiring diagram Jim.. may take you up on that if job gets a go ahead just incase it’s not the stat..
Sorry to cause you a sleepless night Bob.. 😆
Again many thanks guys..

Ahh.. didn’t know front panel came off.. sure it didn’t on earlier models and just been conditioned to do it from the back?.. No wonder I have been struggling 😳
Thanks Jim

ParticipantRe: Getting the belt on the tension pulley – Hpt condenser d
Hi folks
Think it must be me as I really struggle with vented drier with stretch belt, rear access through vent type.. even bought special tool but for the life of me can’t see how it makes life easier..
Only way I’ve managed to get belt on is to replace two screws on motor bracket with longer screws as this allows the motor to tilt closer to the drum and I can replace originals after when belt on and motor bracket screwed back.. struggle with one hand through vent hole and other via the unscrewed backplate and cabinate.. then with a long boxspanner work the belt over the motor pulley..
Question.. how do you use the special tool on these models?.. presumably the belt fits on the cupped end of the tool as there is a coller that stops it from going up the shaft but then there is no room between drum belt and motor shaft to use the tool to lever the belt on.. looks to me as if you need two hands to pull the belt down with great difficulty onto the motor shaft.. how do you guys do this through a vent tube that you can only get one hand through? 😕
No probs with getting belt on condenser or side off driers with my trusty box spanner.. more of a prob getting the condenser machines back together especialy the top of the fan chamber with the drum and new belt in position! :rolls:
Unless you can convince me otherwise I have felt special tool has been a waste of money..
Use the bag tie method on WMA but remove c/wieght first to stop ripping arms to shreds on rough edge and gives better access as well..
Warming the belt seems like a good tip though 🙂

ParticipantRe: W/Knight CL767 Con Drier – No Heat
Thanks for the tips on fan removal guys.. like the one about v shaped wood.. quite inguinious..
Anyone any idea’s about missing netral and front stat access before I go back.. pretty sure there is a stat fitted to the front as I have had kick plate off and there are two wires running up to what feels like a stat fitted up there but looks imposible to test without taking drum out or front off.. need to know best and quickest way to get to this if anyone knows..
Thanks

Had this noise on one of these with a loose pulley but noise stopped when I took belt off.. but might be worth a look?

ParticipantRe: Indesit W103UK – 8 flashes?
Thanks for the reply Baron
Unfortunately the cust informed me today they decided to buy new m/c so difficult to persure this any more but…
For future reference.. presumably the heater relay is on the module as presumably are the resisters and diodes you mentioned?… so changing the board should have cured that unless they are somewere else I have missed?
I did check earth res on heater altho not hot as unable to get m/c up and running but may have been that breaking down but why did’nt it work on spin when heater is cold?.. Can’t rember seeing any temp setting button on this model but could be wrong.. but I’ll keep all these suggestions in mind for next time..
Looks to me as if you have to go armed with pressure switch, heater and module and it is all a case of elemination with this type of fault… What happened to the days when you could go out and make a diagnosess and be confident that it was right?
How do the rest of you guys fair with this type of fault?

Changed Pressure switch today.. Still the same works for about 10-15 seconds.. swiches off.. timer knob rotates and eight flashes..
Any other ideas anyone before I pull out any remaining hair..

ParticipantRe: Stock control system
Don’t get much time these days to pop onto this forum so only just seen this..
I wrote my own stock program useing MS Access.. Pretty esay to use and there are pleanty of usefull books out there to help.. Took about 6 weeks of evenings to get a system up and running and taylored it all to my own needs. Didnt even have to learn Visual Basic to get a good system up and running… I have been using it for about 15 years now and works a treat and it is all menu driven..
The Book I used was a Wrox publication called The Beginers Guide to Access 95, Although quite old now I’m sure they will do a recent publication for the latest Access program.. The book was very self explantary and showed you how to write your own stock system.
The only drawback to this is that you need to buy MS Access or Office pro to get Access which is an arm and a leg..
