    You should never quote yourself… but;

Others pass the gas through the fridge evaporator first, but the fridge evaporator won’t get cold enough to switch the thermostat off until the low side (suction side of the compressor) gas pressure drops as the freezer reaches temperature.
If the fridge switches off before the freezer reaches temperature on this type of system, it will normally be due to a gas leak or blockage, faults that drop the low side gas pressure.

Re: A general technical question about fridge freezers.

You are asking something most repairers don’t need to know… I’m assuming we are talking fridge freezers with a single compressor and single stat attached to the fridge evaporator… The differential is determined at the design stage, and will be determined by the gas charge and pipe configuration.

Some of these appliances freeze the freezer evaporator first and then the fridge evaporator last… The fridge evaporator won’t start freezing until the freezer evaporator is close to its correct temperature.

If you were a bit closer I would be tempted.

Silly money? how much did they quote… I did one for £180 a few weeks ago.

They look like they are LEC fridges… if they are they should be quite good for the money.

    Re: Creda Fridge Freezer

Some Creda fridge freezers don’t have evaporators in the fridge section. If your fridge freezer pushes cold air from the freezer to refrigerate the fridge and you had fully defrosted the freezer evaporator… check the hose that goes into the tray on the compressor for blockages.

Have you removed the grill below the freezer door and vacuumed out the condensor?

Sounds like a gas fault and one for an engineer to sort out.

If It’s a single door 10cuft Ocean freezer (I’ve only seen the one) you can order the parts from Ocean or Brandt etc.
    45×9781 Original but now obsolete.
45×8357 New board with tags on right hand side, so you will need to lengthen some of the wires.

PM me if you want to know how you can repair the old PCB for under £2 😀

    Re: Ocean Freezer

You should be able to find an engineer who can fit the new type pcb in place of the obsolete one.

I’ve only seen one of these, a few years ago, and after pricing the spare, changed the compressor, it was cheaper. I will check for a fuse next time… thanks.
