ParticipantNow I know you have said you have cleaned out the fan and condenser…. but any Mistral F/F where the temp of the freezer section is only -6, I would be looking to see if the condenser fan is turning correctly.

ParticipantJust a note on early JL models… there is a modified fan switch push button (prt no. 2426450033) that is located in the front of the top inside the freezer section (like the Zanussi curved fronted FF models). Sorry I haven’t got the relevant model number.
If you have an early John Lewis model that is erratic, tape the freezer door switch in and if that fixes the erraticness (made up word) then the modified part may fix the problem.
I have fitted lots of these to get the fan spinning but have yet to fit a fan motor.

ParticipantSwitch it off (pull the plug) for 24 hours with the door open in a warm room.
BTW – Be careful using a hair dryer especially if the fridge freezer is plugged in as most of these models have thermal fuses mounted near the evaporator assembly. It will fail if you get it too warm, I’ve seen it happen.

ParticipantThanks everyone for the info… so nothing to do with the fan sticking.
January 26, 2008 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Servis M7055-6W slim-line Fridge/Freezer (Non frost free) #241029MKR
ParticipantI checked everywhere, but no sticker. There was a place for it in the fridge and the customer had a sheet of the long stickers, one of which she stuck in the fridge.
Anyway, fingers crossed, it hasn’t come back 🙂MKR
ParticipantAre there two compressors?
Compressors are generally generic.MKR
ParticipantRe: Bosch Fridge Freeer
Is the KGV3201 the same as a KGU3201?
On the KGU3201, E2 is a thermistor error, the internal Evaporator one.MKR
ParticipantThanks for the help of list guys.
BTW I did find one service manual on the Web, but I don’t think it’s a UK model;

I think It switches on a heater below the fridge evaporator. This speed up the fridge defrost and also makes the freezer colder (because the compressor runs more often.) So I think it’s a fast freeze/low-ambient temperature switch.
October 5, 2006 at 6:36 pm in reply to: Hoover HF40R – Power light on, but nothing else works #187292MKR
ParticipantReplace the evaporator thermistor and the thermal fuse (should be top right secured with a single screw.)
What normally happens is the thermistor short-circuits keeping the defrost heater on until the thermal fuse blows, then neither the heater or compressor will work.
If you have replaced just the thermal fuse, then the heater will power until it blows the thermal fuse again. That’s why you need to replace the thermistor that fits into the evaporator assembly also.

ParticipantThanks Dave…. I think I will pass on this one.

ParticipantIt’s attached to the evaporator assembly in the Freezer section…. But beware, this is not an easy repair!

it only takes less then 20 minutes to change over the part so do not expect to pay more than £60 in total for the work.
I hope this helps
I wouldn’t call-out to a customer, supply and fit that part for £60 (including VAT.) What do you do for a living? I fix refrigeration appliances and resent being told what I should charge.
Kai wrote: The problem is with the evaporator thermistor. I found the problem after banging my head against the F/F for about 2 weeks.
Well done on finding the fault… :rolls:
