    Hi Dave
    It rotates correctly on wash
It drains OK prior to spin
On spin cycle it just rotates at slow constant speed endlessly, does not speed up.
From customer data does not sound like OOB.
    Hope this helps

Have any of you guys (and gals) seen one of these incidents of an interlock that caught fire?
over the years I have seen many “burned out’ I/Locks, usually at the spade connectors/amp tags.
It has never been a “fire risk” issue.

    Hi Dave
Many thanks for those, but unfortunately neither PDF covers test pgms & diagnostics. Apparently there is a separate model-specific manual covering “Functions and diagnostics” according to the big PDF you sent.
If you can send me that I would be very grateful.
    Best regards

Re: Hotpoint BWD129 error codes please

OK, that would indicate F13 = dryer ntc/ fan motor
Fan motor is spinning all the time, so that is OK. What should the resistance value of the NTC be roughly, at room temp?
    Cheers

I was curious for details of Analogic pressure switches, and found full explanation here, for your info:

    Re: Hotpoint Aqualtis no water!

Hotpoint now fit the Analogic type pressure switches on some models (they’ve been on Zanussi & Electrolux for years) and I have been told that if you, or the customer, empty the machine manually (like through the filter trap) the PCB thinks the machine is still full of water, and thus will not open any water valves. You have to manually refill the machine with water (whilst unplugged) and then let it run all through a wash, to reset the PCB.
    Any comments on this?
(Analogic type pressure switches contain a coil with a ferrite plunger that is pushed upwards by water pressure, and the PCB presumably reads the change in impedance)

    Hi Jem
Sorry my autocorrect called you Jim!
Strange looking kit. Why do these fail? Blockage?

Yes door was closed. Could be the interlock I guess. Will investigate when I fit the fan.
Thanks for info. By the way, is there a proper source of spares for these newish heatpump Samsung driers? I had a long search to source the fan, and then I had to go for the “70” series fan, as no-one had the “80” series fan.

    Hi Martin
I did search but must have mis-worded it……apologies, O Wizard!!
I did a quote but the customer baled.
I also took a look at the new AC motor. Guess what – it has a Chinese part number! I bet the inverter board has as well…
Why are Bosch buying Chinese junk to replace their own excellent motor that lasts forever (with a few brush changes)? A few years ago they bought horrible cheap bearing sets (probably cheap Chinese) that bombed out in 3 yrs (under 2 in one case) and pissed off all my customers that I had told to buy Bosch “as they are the best on the market”. Now this.

Before anyone says “you just press the little red reset button on the back” – no, it is not tripping and all that does anyway is turn off the heat!
Just thought I would mention it!

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

You are right about those damn stretch belts. I bought the rather large special belt-fitting tool that Qualtex sold – it makes an almost impossible job into an easy one. Nowadays the “teardrop” bearing wears through, the rear shaft drops down and grinds itself through on the backplate, and of course the rear shaft is now hard-rivetted onto the rear of the drum (instead of having three replaceable screws to hold it on) and it ain’t worth the bother to drill out the rivets to replace it…..so its a new inner drum, and at that point I tell customers to chuck it away and buy a Zanussi or a Bosch dryer!

Re: Whirlpool to do a recall on Hotpoint dryers

I’ve seen the circular buildup of fluff inside the rear drum sealing felt grow to 1 to 2 inches, but in 30 yrs I’ve only ever seen one case of if grown to the point of being about to catch fire, which of course means it has grown to the point of contacting the heater element through the square access hole at the back. I spotted the red glow as I tested the machine on arrival! I would think it takes years of use to get this much buildup. A service every year or two, including removing this build-up, should remove any fire risks, and some customers ask for this. I would have thought just removing the build-up would make the machine safe……..

Most commonly those horrible teardrop-shaped rear bearings wear through in 2-3 years and also the front shim bearings wear out also, so what is the point of changing the whole backplate without renewing those? (I guess a new backplate MUST include a new rear bearing – unless they put the old one back!)
(The older square rear bearings seemed to last forever.)

Would a failed heatpump unit throw up an E02, or does it have another error code?
Does E02 only relate to module failure?
(The sump is completely dry, but thanks for that)
    Thanks for the help.
