I heard 30 engineers nationwide, yeah voluntry letters recieved. 🙁
Trying to ‘lend’ engineers out to Belguim and Amsterdam to cover illness.
    Works dead our way.

    Re: CDA appliances

There are a few interesting “quirks’ lets say with the Siltal type machines. If you get no motor action and it cannot be traced to the usuall suspects take a good look at the loom plug onto the motor and be sure to pull gently at each tag ’cause the wiring breaks inside the insulation!!
The sump hoses can be interesting too as they have an expension ring insde the hose to seal it into the tank, easily removed but a pig to refit.
Beside that, not a bad machine once its out.

Some of the CDA washers and washer dryers are manufactured by Siltal, similar to some Teknik machines, easy to work on but watch cabinet edges their like razors!!

Re: How does the latest safety valve work?

Machines destined for the german market have to have these ‘Aquastops’ its a requirement that the water is isolated at the point of entry from the tap, if the hose becomes damaged there should be no uncontroled leakage onto the floor.
The theory with the BSH ones is that if the tap leaks it goes into the couragated aquastop hose and back into the machine to operate the antiflood device, this is why they are specific on the orientation of the aquastop valve to the tap, all the valves in aquastop hoses are potted to prevent moisture ingress, if you change one you must heat shrink the cables with the connectors provided or change the whole assembly.

All this said, it never stops mice chewing through the drain hoses!!

I really must get out more often…….

    Re: Neff fan oven elements

    Hi Folks!
I can only fit genuine elements for obvious reasons 😉
I’ve never had a problem with elements failing within 12 months once replaced, I know alot of the local independants by me are turning to genuine elements now due to the failure rate of pattern ones (especially the 494643 equivelent)
I have to agree with BSH Man on this subject and suggest only fitting genuine elements.
The holes in the fan motor assembly (096825) have indeed been added to aid cooling to the motor shaft.
I would be cautionary as to not fitting the screw behind the fan in the top of the half moon 494643 element as they can become distorted and ‘sag’ at higher tempretures thus catching the fan 😯
The updated backplates are only for appliances that may have uneven cooking (cooking more on one side than other) and will be more likely to be seen under warranty as the fault will be apparent from new, ther is no known connection as far as im aware between backplates and element failures.
Its also worth remembering if someone complains about insufficiant cooking results on an older oven checking as to shelf position, Shelf 2 can cause odd things to happen if a large item blocks the air vent. 💡
As for getting the fans off….I have a large pair of adjustable pliers that I always use to pull the fan from the shaft sometimes appling heat if neccesary.

    Re: neff condensor dryer

Door switch assemblys do give problems on these as it is a unit with microswitches inside it and they play up.
What happens is as you describe and the timer will count down but nothing else happens, Easy fix if you have some spare microswitches.
    Definetly worth checking…..

Flame failure device in burner assembly, it needs a gap of 10mm. They can be tricky blighters, if its not sensing then itshuts the thing down.

    Hi Chris
The stat is a 90’c and NTC in one, The brass tags are for the 90’c side and should be connected through to the heater, The silver tags are the NTC. As a rule, the brass tags have a much heavier gauge wire to them for obvious reasons.
I have seen these reversed and it blows the NTC side as it cannot cope with the voltage/ampage going through it.
Remembering that some of the electronic machines don’t start to heat until 18 minutes into wash…………
If there is no power down to the stat/heater its controled by the relay top right of the board looking from the rear. Had loads and loads of heater dry joints when at SUK.

    Re: Inverter microwaves

Usually the fuse blows if the inverter is at all damaged. As far as i’m aware, Inverter type mags and transformer mags are not interchangable. These inverter systems are a strange beast, i have replaced a mag that was clearly faulty (antenna burnt and magnets cracked) worked fine for a few weeks and then the board fails. 😕
Again, Microwave voltages and no way to test it.
I have some information on Panasonic ones and how to test components on the boards but have no idea on how to post it??

Re: A Tricky Job? – Whats the hardest repair you have done?

What a lovely piece of kit 🙂
Unfortunatly, No, it seems (I know i’m going to get stick for this!) but the real ‘Engineering’ side of the job has gone, and those of us that like to take things apart and ‘Repair’ a part are looked at by others with dismay and scorn, some days I feel like its just a fit parts job.
I bet pump manufacturers will never introduce a repair set for a pump like the ones for indesit ‘L’ series 🙁
But then again everythings so throw away these days no need to….
    I must be getting old….. 😆

Yep, Part number is correct, the drawing is a bit scetchy but it shows the water hose (grey to replace blue) connected to the right and pressure hose (clear) connected to the left, You will also find the little corbin clip used on the old blue hose may not fit on the new grey one, strange but true!
    Hope this helps
