Hotpoint top loader gearbox.
Why so,I assume you mean a power unit as opposed to the gearbox itself. 45 minutes max, wrap round cab off, lift console and top surround off and rest it back on suitable chair or stool. Outer drum off, take motor & balance weight off chassis then lift out the power unit. Wedge four of the rectangular nuts from the motor or weight bolts into the suspension dampers to keep them open and refit new assembly. Easy peasy.
Jim.
Me and power units/gearboxes never got on whether twintubs or toploaders, I don’t think it was anything to do with the product rather the company I worked for lacked the training/knowledge so everything was always hard work with them. Its great when someone comes along who’s had experiance time and again and shows you how its done, often with quirky ways to make life easier, that sort of help always proves invaluable!
Problem was, we would see a toploader every couple of months if that asthey we’re a dying breed so I never built up a familiarity with then.
Good machine none the less!! 🙂nationalhomecare

No, The grey hose replaces the blue one and the small clear one goes onto the air chamber.

Hi!
Yeah unfortunatly this is now the case, try sticking the hose in some boiling water first to get it more flexible.

Hi Chris
Really speaking its the only way to do a propper job by pulling the tank out, I have had quite a few with brackets broken.
Much better if you can uplift it and do it in a workshop, unfortunatly I have to do them all on site 😥
Talking of ‘Mr Bodger’
We have a ‘Mr Bodger’ round this way and he’s a marked man, telling customers he’s manufacturer trained (not in the last 21 years we know of)
He charges customers and says he has to order parts and never comes back, he’s just stung a retired couple in their late 60’s for 350quid. 👿

Hang on lads, i’m just getting my anorak on!!!!
I have been out to a few Bosch VT washer dryers, lukily most of the bits are obsolete! I still have customers who have them and refuse to change them.
Worst jobs have to be, 80’s and 90’s mainly……….
Tank change on Philco’s (flimsy stainless spotwelded thing).
Dryer ducts on the OLD Zanussi Jetsystem Turbodrys and the sump/heater assembly on these.
Hotpoint top loader gearbox.
Servis Homecare QUARTZ washer dryer bearing change.

ParticipantRe: haier washing machines
Scrap price is up at the moment, 140quid a ton round this way, weigh them in 😆
I know retailers who have had them and nothing but trouble…shame really, i’m sure Haier will get there in the end 😕

Hello Chris,
Sorry to tell you its an absolute pig! Is it blocked?
If it is blocked, sometimes you can remove the fan and flush it from the top if your lucky otherwise you have to practically strip the thing to get it out as its one of the first things to go in during production.
A word of caution though…..The hose at the bottom between the tank and condenser has an insert, sometimes they can come out into the tank during repair and are almost impossible to refit without stripping it down.
I avoid them like the plague…….

ParticipantRe: Huge potential appliance database?
That sounds like a great idea, as we seem to repeat the same information over and over again.
I wonder what the technical implications of setting up the system would be though?
I would be a very powerfull tool to have access to. 8)
If there is any info I can submit i’d be happy to help!

ParticipantRe: Siemens HBN27054GB/06 Oven
Hi
By omiting the ‘N’ on my quickfinder I get the same part numbers, As BSH man says its only down to branding, its the same unit mechanically.
It is however a heavy door and would be inclined to change the bearings especially if some lovely little brat has forced it previously.
I have had it before where hinges have been changed on the first call and endup going back a week later for same fault but end up changing both bearings and hinges again as another set of hinges fail to do the job, weird 😕

ParticipantRe: Bosch Dishwasher SGV56A13GB Noisey
Hello!
It is probably the hose from that pressure chamber to the sump is restricted with grease/gunge, its a push fit hose about 10″ long and will need to be removed and cleaned.
What is happening as it fills is that the water is backing up in the hose and operating the overfill/safety float, the orange thing you can see operating, causing the inlet valve to open and close repeatedly.
Always remember to disconnect the appliance from the supply before carrying out any investigation 😉

ParticipantRe: New house, first Dishwasher
I have to say, if you are in need of a dishwasher straight away and can’t wait fot the ISE then this is the model I would recomend from the Bosch range.
Bosch SGS56E18GB, It may be slightly over budjet.
It has all the new ‘Express’ cycles and ‘Rackmatic’ Baskets and is in the lovely Silver, Comes with 2 year manufacturers warranty and is a good piece of kit.
