    Re: Hotpoint WF860

after having read Iadoms post, I bought another new pressure switch to see how it reacted. With the meter-and-blow test, it behaved exactly the same as the one I removed from the machine. However, there are 2 things that puzzle me.
1 The burnt contact in the old switch was in the flood protection circuit, so I would not have expected it to influence the normal operation of the machine. However the other pair of contacts may have had a non visible intermittent fault.
2 This switch is, essentially a 2 stage or 2 level switch . So why is the second stage not accompanied by a second click?
As always there are more questions than answers…

    Re: Free energy

Just for the record, this demo was closed because they could not get the machine to work! So far it is reckoned this “free ” energy machine has cost the company in excess of five million pounds. Make of that what you will….

    Re: Salesmanship

Hi Funkyboogy, I only started selling washing machines last September.I started as a result of the increasing number of machines beyond economical repair. I probably average two a week, which is a nice earner without taking me too close to the VAT threshold. Basically I started this thread as I was bored and just wanted something to talk about. Sometimes it pays us all to take a fresh look at things we do everyday, and see if we can acheive the same or better results easier, quicker, smarter and cheaper.

Re: What is going on !!??

Terrorism is a strange word. In the second world war, our bomber crews were referred to as “terror Fliers” by the german civillians, in spite of the fact that Germany started the war. Then there is the unfortunate affair of Salmon Rushtie and the Knight-hood. IMO this was unneccessary as it will lead to bloodshed. If it is now retracted, it will give Muslim countries the impression that they can influence our internal affairs. This would be the thin end of a very large wedge, and within a year, all our womenfolk would be walking around with black tents on .
My point is that he should never have been knighted in the first place. He didnt need it, he has fame and money. Greater good would have resulted if it had been awarded to some aged refuse collector, and I am not being patronising when I say that.

Many thanks for that. I may have been slightly wrong in my reasoning, but the new switch cured the fault.

Customer. I Dont Know, I cant see through the door.
    Engineer, Does it empty?
    Cust . Dont know etc
Engineer. Does the drum turn at all?
    Cust. Dont know etc
Engineer [thinks] maybe its not ment to actually do anything. There is just a recording inside playing washing machine type noises.
Cust. Ihave noticed the machine spins the load really dry, but I dont think its taking the powder….

Re: Indesit Domed Torx Pulley Bolts

I usually find that a centre punch works for me when used in the same way as the chisel method described above,. what I woud really like to know is what are the claimed advantage of torx bolts and allen key bolts over the standard hex bolt. Since the size of the bolt head is larger than the orifice gripped by the tool, you are obviously working at a mechanical disadvantage. Message to designers. If it works fine, dont spend money on “improving”it. If it aint f***ed dont fix it.

All that vile scrap metal, and not a single classic motorcycle amongst it. I would be so upset I would demolish the barn and start looking to buy a place in England.

Re Martins post about cheques, I take cheques from anyone, and never bother with cheque guarantee cards. I have had two cheques bounce in the last ten years, In both cases, I got paid later. Am i lucky, or just terminally naive?

Re: When is Hoover NOT Hoover?

One year I was foolish enough to let theYP rep talk me into taking out a large ad which cost me £600 pounds for the year. I got very few calls as a result, most of which were from outside my area. The next year I cancelled. From then on, they gave me a one line add free.
Recently they have been pestering me to advertise with them again. I finally got fed up with this. The end of the coversation went something lie this.
Me.”look, pal, I have done my own survey, and I am going to spend my advertising money where it does most good, and that aint Yellow Pages.”
    YP “Isn`t.”
    Me ” Pardon?”
    YP “Isn`t Yellow Pages.”
Me ” Oh so you`ve finally grasped it then. Next time I need English lessons, I`ll call you. ” Iwasw less than impressed.
