It is my understanding that you can smoke in your van if you are the only one who drives it. can anyone confim this or otherwise? If I am right, then can we assume that no ” no smoking ” notice would then be needed?

    Re: FUNNY NAMES

Years ago when I drove a truck for a living, we used to collect seed potatoes from a merchant in the scottish town of Banf. The merchant was called Alan Tw*t. I kept an empty sack with his name on it. Recently, it was found in my shed by my daughters freind. She would not beleive it was real, so I suggested she ring the number on the sack to confirm it/ To our disappointment, a female voice answered ” Good morning, THE potato merchant, how can i help?”

Thanks for replies. So I looked on page 4 of “known fault codes” and sure enough, in Iadoms post we learn that this fault is most likely caused by the rear NTC. At the risk of displaying my ignorance, what, and where is this exactly? I will take another look tomorrow or saturday. I have a
fe eling that the NTC may be one of the “thermostats” I referred to earlier. Oh the joys of modern technology!

Lovely photo, Martin. On the same afternoon the sunset here in south Lincs was truly breathtaking as viewed across the flat Fenland. Biggest skies in the world.

At Ten Thirty this morning I had to catch a plane. I am sick of working at the airport, and I reckon its about time they built a sodding runway.

Re: MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE INVENTION OF THE WHEEL

Many thanks for your comments, which were much appreaciated. Here is a related topic. You may have seen the small 12 volt in-car cool boxes on the market , which work on a peltier element. This is a kind of giant transistor. you feed it power and one end gets hot and the other cold. However, if you heat one end and cool the other, it produces electricity . It has a low efficiency in this mode, typically 3{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} , But elements especially configured for the job acheive about 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. A firm in the USA has used 44 of these elements built into a custom made lorry silencer. In road tests an output of over 1 Killowatt was acheived! This was then used to replace the alternator . The lessened load on the engine resulted in an improvement in fuel mileage of 13{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}. Smaller models are being develloped for lighter vehicles, and another firm is working on a device to fit on a woodstove, for off-the-grid dwellers. This one is not going to bring down capitalism, but could have wothwhile applications in the recovery of waste heat. Again, I am anxious to hear your views and comments.

We used to listen to “JOURNEY INTO SPACE” on the radio back in the1950s. But best of all was “Quatermass and the Pit”. Anyone else remember this?

    Re: Lethal Zanussi F1045w

I may be sticking my neck out here, As I am not familiar with this particular model. However I vaguely recall a similar fault on an older Zanussi. Machine would run, but door could be opened at any time. The fault was due to wear in what I call the escutcheon plate, the plastic plate that the door pecker fits through to engage the interlock. The damage was to the inside of the plate, and was only visible with plate removed from machine. So check the escutcheon plate[if it has one]

I seem to remember that this bracket is basically a wire clip. Am I right? Also, can it be fitted without a complete strip down, as in drum out?

Re: WMA 30 prewash light flashing

Went to a very similar fault today on a WF series machine. However machine intermittently over filled. Pressure vessel was filled with smeg. You do not say if you checked pressure pot. If you have not, perhaps you should. good luck.
