what was being washed at the time ? if it was a large item or even a single item , it may have been just the out of balance system operating. What happens if you try a spin cycle with the appliance empty ?

Check the heater element and its connections . It sounds like the machines waiting for the water to heat .

F02 relates to water intake. It means that the appliance hasn’t detected any water coming into the machine after 5 mins .

Is your water tap turned ?
Is there water coming into the appliance at switch on ?
These are the first things i’d be looking at .

To answer your question…Yes , modules will sometimes blow tracks with no other component involved. The normal reason is moisture ingress into the board area .

There is a possibility that the dispenser may have blown the board as although i’ve not seen it personally , i have heard of it from other engineers.

If you decided to go ahead with repairing this dishwasher then it would make sense to change the module and dispenser at the same time .

Oh , and the reason the ‘plunger is hard to extend is that i believe its attached to a wax plug that expands when powered up which is what pushes the plunger out to activate the detergent door

I could check for you mate but need the full model number – The one you have put up is either incorrect or incomplete.

I’m thinking this is an older model with the exposed element in the base ?

Yes we have the receipt. We purchased the dishwasher in April 2007 so we’re still within a two year period. I’ve also found the warranty registration card…which we didn’t return 🙁 I’ll ring the number on the that card for After Sales Service and see if they can help. The number is 08705 678910 unless you can suggest an alternative?

Thanks so much fr this piece of advice…I hope it comes to something good.

The new Bosch call booking number is 08448928979…and don’t worry about not registering it. You’ve still got a 2 yr warranty regardless

According to the info i have :

Glass outer panel depending on colour

    White – 299130
    Black – 299132
    Brown – 299116

Might be worth checking on the BSh site as there are a few seals/strips that you might need as well

Just out of interest , have you re-set the appliance electronically ? The module on these will hold its programme status in memory so switching it off and then back on via the on/off switch won’t reset the cycle . It will just carry on from where it was stopped.

is it just the top arm that spins round that has come off ?

If so , it is held on with the knurled nut that comes with it . If you hold the spray arm with the holes pointing upwards , insert the securing nut through the centre , offer the two up to the arm on the bottom of the top basket and when its in , turn the nut to lock it in. Can’t rememebr which way , but it will lock it self in with only a 45-90* twist

Nearly all Bosch/Neff/siemens ovens with grill elements are used with the oven door CLOSED. This wasn’t so with the older style ovens where you grilled with the door open. I believe they initially had some problems with customers either :

    A. Grilling with the door open as the customer would leave the handle attached , stopping the door from closing – this would lead to burnt facias and melted selector switches

    OR

B: Lots of mashed glass doors where customers left the handles on and then tried to close the door

    water point divertor units?

What is the ‘Water point divertor unit’?

Its the motor/disc in the heater box that switches between the top and bottom spray arms .

I’ve never really noticed but as it seems to occur in later models , which all tend to have the water point , i suppose that may be true. I will have to keep an eye on it.

I will say that i’ven only had about 3 or 4 machines in 3 years that have had a repeated heater failure.

If the water level’s too low , the heater shouldn’t switch on as there’s not enough water pressure to ativate the membrane of the pressure swutch that is intergrated into the IWH .

We have had a few probs with repeated failures on some Bosch D/W’s but no-one’s really sure why .

Hi Red , the normal reason for ice build up in the bottom of the freezer is a blocked drain hole at the bottom rear of the freezer compartment. The first thing you should try is a complete 48hr defrost. Appliance switched off – doors open – plenty of towels round the base just in case .
