where is the appliance situated ? The interior light may stay on at about 50 {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} if the exterior ambient temp is low .

Re: bosch replacement pan and rack also gas hob electronic r

Whilst i agree with Martin , as a quick check , have you checked if the hob has a mains cable with a plug on it. Theres always the chance that the fuse might have gone ( always check the simplest things first ) As for the hob model number , it will prob be on a sticker on the under side . If you have a drawer underneath it , removing the drawer should let you see it…..if the oven is below it , well thats a different matter !!!

is there water in the base ? If not , then sometimes the anti-flood float (red ‘can’ looking device ) can be lifted if theres gunge in the pressure chamber that it sits in. water gets trapped in it and lifts the float …also , mice chewing on the polystyrene disc in the base can cause probs

in a word…yes !!! Its probably a plastic base model with the ‘mushroom’ overfill level sensor. The constant filling/draining/filling prob is normally cleared by replacing the impellor jug ( flow rate meter ) . Sometimes , its the angle at which the sensor is sited that can be a prob . it should be as upright as possible .

I had a washing machine where the customer insisted the appliance was leaking…..however , it was the joint on his copper cold water pipe where the machine inlet hose was connected that was leaking – the most unfortunate thing for the customer was bthat it had been leaking for some time but as the machine was intergrated , it hadn’t been seen soon enough and his ‘wooden’ floor was a complete mess .

Re: Bosch D/washer SGS5358GB/17 Programme Times Have Changed

without checking too deeply on the model , it could be one of the machines that starts the next cycle at the same length of time it took the last cycle to finish 😯 . If for any reason the previous ‘quick-wash’ time was extended ( i.e no heating due to lack of water or open circuit heater ) that could explain the extended time – Do a quick wash , checking the start time and then the actual length of cycle – it may reset itself

Some great stuff in this thread .
How about when you ask the customer for a description of the fault on their washing machine and they say ” Sorry mate , i’ve no idea , i’m only sitting in for the owner”…..and then they spend 15mins trying to get in touch with the owner to find out whats actually wrong !!!

Or the ….”of course i’ve checked the pump/filter” …..reply . Oh really madam , then why can’t i even get the cover off because of this loose bra wire. Perhaps you’d like a job if you can manage that !!!

And i get irate with those customers who’s appliances are covered by insurance and then when you ask to see their insurance certificate , you get a blank look , followed by a “mmmm , i’m not sure where it is”……. 😡

Heating – Basically if there is insufficient water in tub, it won’t heat due to a safety microswitch on heater unit. As a guide, when appliance has finished filling the water level should bejust below lower spray arm and definately not level or above.

Good point . What can happen is that the machine will fill properly for the initial wash – subsequent washes/rinses in the same cycle can suffer from low water levels as the ‘tub fill level’ arm stays in the ‘out’ position , fooling the machine into thinking its full . As Gegsy said , check this matrix out on the LHS of the machine .

    Re: bosch fridge freezer

After doing a 48hr defrost , its always worth checking the small drain tube at the rear of the machine , by the compressor . Its the pipe that goes into the plastic container above the compressor . These sometimes get a ‘jelly-like’ build up inside them which causes the defrosted water to stop in the drain tube inside the freezer section which in turn , re-freezes thus blocking the drain tube. Pop this pipe off and clean out with a pipe brush and some bleach before re-fitting . As Usual , power off appliance before taking a peek !!! 😉

    Re: fridge freezer problem

to be honest , -18*C is the reccommended freezer temp on a Bosch freezer anyways . First thing i would do is a complete de-frost of the freezer as the evaporator may be iced up . Empty the freezer , switch off the appliance , open the freezer door and leave for 48hrs , leaving plenty of towels round the base and keeping an eye on the water level in the clear container that sits above the compressor at the rear ( you may find lots of de-frost water appearing )
After 48hrs , switch appliance back on and see how it goes from there .
Hopefully , this will solve your prob

Re: Bosch wff 2000 sometimes failing to pump

There is another possible reason for this intermittent fault – It may be draining fine but the pressure chamber for the water level switch may be clogged causing the machine to think that it hasn’t drained , even when it has. There is a chamber on the rear of drum with a small black pipe leading up to a pressure switch . ‘Sludging up’ of this chamber could cause your prob. Power off before you check 8)

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

    You really know your stuff.

My OH followed your advice – the pipe was blocked almost solid so we flushed it out, put the machine back together, put it on a quick wash, crossed our fingers, held our breath and then breathed a huge sigh of relief.

We will take much more care of our machine in future.

    Thanks again.
    😀
Thats what i normally do when i’m cleaning that pipe out…its not the nicest of smells 😉

If the machine runs OK with powder, my only concern then is whether the overfoaming might have damaged the pump housing or other parts of the mechanism. If so, should I ask Bosch to replace them before the guarantee runs out?

If there is any damage to the pump/other parts caused by the overfoaming then i doubt Bosch would do any replacements as your warranty covers you for mechanical/electrical breakdown of the appliance and your probs could be classed as customer mis-use .
