found the label Dave, MSW 40011821, USW 40011822 and EEP CODE 40011380. so doesnt look as though its within the range šŸ™ Doesnt appear that the child lock is on….I suspect this will be a PCB replacement gremlin for sure

Thanks very much Dave, child lock will be my 1st point to check. I dont remember seeing a label on the module but guess that could have fallen off and be floating at the bottom of the machine somewhere?

I think ive found the culprit!
I was given a cheap app based endoscope for my birthday and thought Id put it to good use.
Ive added a link with some photos of the selector switch, you can see that looking from the front of the oven the Right hand side is clean and shiny whereas the left hand side has been burned some of the contact parts are missing.

Thanks Dave, just double checked again. Looks like I have live on both terminals so have lost a neutral somewhere.

Thanks very much for the reply and I apologies for the lack of response.
I did indeed strip the front from the machine disconnected everything I could, reseated everything and put back together, its been 6 months now and not a single drop has leaked.
I did notice at the time there were 2 of these machines for sale on various sites and both had the same issue, I suspect that Whirlpool are perhaps not assembling the system correctly.
Thank you again though for the advice.

ive repaired my candy ages ago with exactly the same symptoms; my other symptom was that the machine would sometimes end the cycle short leaving the clothes damp. From memory it was the heater relay on the PCB which I replaced it and its still going strong.

    Re: whirlpool awz 7913

DDSDDS, the front part that you are referring to is sold as an NTC thermistor from Whirlpool….although I believe from memory it is actually a simple exhaust thermostat, however the flashing lights on the display are not related to this part.
The machine that I had with the flashing lights had a faulty NTC sensor on the heater (the middle one of the 3) but as you probably know, the sensor is not available as a spare item on its own.
With the dryer that I had when the front stat and heater unit replaced the lights would stop flashing and the machine would run but still no heat was produced.
Im not sure if anyone has any other information but I wouldn’t be surprised if the 6th sense logic board is faulty?

Re: Hotpoint CTD00T Dryer – excessive vibration

sadly not, I changed the 4 bearing guides/pads located at the front…I guess this must be a later machine?

    So to recap on parts replaced;
    – front nylon bearing guides/pads
    – rear shaft and bearing
    – front impeller fan
    – rear fan blade
    – rear drum seal

when assembled you can hold the top of the machine and feel the vibrations through the case.
Ive even tried lifting the machine and/or placing on card or an old piece of material….all without change?

Re: Smeg SUK61CPX5 electric oven – centre fan with no heat

That sounds like a plan! I’ll check for the internal plate and see if I can whip the element out and confirm with a continuity test…im guessing in some circumstances its probably easy to see the failure without having to check.
Once confirmed Ill follow the link youve provided and order one…lets hope I can repair it ready for the turkey!

Thanks again, have a great Christmas.

Re: Smeg SUK61CPX5 electric oven – centre fan with no heat

Hi Keith, thanks for the advice…the electrics off and unplugged at the moment while investigating are the elements installed from inside the oven or do you remove the fan unit from the rear and assemble as a unit?

Yes, I’ve used the same fuse before – the rating is a 206C however I’ve always replaced with a 192C part.
As penguin said, find the concern first before replacing again….unless you have a trigger happy Wife who likes to beat the timer and open the door mid cycle?

Re: Whirlpool AWZ7913 exhaust thermostat – is it available?

I asked my friend who owns the machine when it was purchased, she said that it was early 2007 – she’s not sure if the guarantee has expired but will certainly check, I’ll tell her to phone Whirlpool for assistance or just bin the machine.

I’ve had a few dryers myself and a fridge freezer that went down quite recently… as most people have in a busy family environment; mainly my questions relate to family, friends and neighbours who ask, very few of these items even set foot in my home.
You’re probably right though, I’ll tell them all in future that they should be not be trying to fix these things but should instead be filling up the recycling centres and replacing with brand new machines, this will give a two fold solution 1) great for the environment and 2) helps us spend loads more cash in the current economic downturn.
