    Re: Indesit WG1034T leaking

There are three different versions of this appliance, each type will have its own problems.

However, you should advise your landlord that the appliance is well out of its guarantee period, so it is in his own interest to get a local independent service engineer to investigate this. The hourly rate will certainly be less that sending for Comet, and the engineer will be sufficiently interested and motivated to inspect the appliance properly.

If the machine is now leaking significant amounts of water, it will probably be fairly easy to track down.

Flood protection activated – the undertray has flooded and operated the float switch. With the power off, drain the water to reset float switch. However, you still have to find the leak.

Base model Bosch is under £300 – find another £50 and get something with a few more options and better spin for a good few years reliable service. 2 year warranty is nice as well.

It is advisable to change the hinge and its support as a pair.

    Hinge is p/no 3113390-02/9, about £10.
    Support is p/no 3111468-00/9, about £4.

Plus VAT and delivery – email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for confirmed prices and ordering.

It is basically a screwdriver job.

Drum paddles working loose is a common problem and will lead to holing of clothes. Also consisten overloading can lead to holes.

    Ha!
At least we can play “Spot the bald patch” as opposed to “Spot the hair”.

The point I was making was about presentation – it’s a damn site more professional now. We don’t seem to have the “He said she said” and “Yaboo sucks” of 18 months ago. If we are influencing our little world, it’s crucial that it looks good,as well as having content.

    I think it’s going pretty well…….

Part of the load is sensed by back EMF (a la old Philips machines) – sloppy belt, poor drive, so motor doesn’t drive to the “profile” stored in the computer.

    I think………

    Oh yes, big problem……..
To check, open door, put hand into drum at 12 o’clock and lift. Check for movement relative to the door gasket. There should be none. Often you can feel the wear as the drum turns, if they are particularly worn you will certainly hear it..

BTW, worth checking the filter – the drag against the drum if the water is not clearing can throw the belt off.

The hose connecting the fill chamber to the sump across the bottom of the machine will almost certainly be choked with detritus.

Power off if investigating or click the link below for a local engineer.

Flood protection activated – water is leaking into the undertray. Drain undertray to reactivate – find leak, or get help.

    Power off before any investigations.
