Didn’t this pop-up a while ago? Turned out to be an earth leak on the heater IIRC.

The motor is the only component which does not bring up a fault code. Worth checking all three circuits through the motor. Water level control is by a diaphram pressure switch – round gadget with a skinny hose running down from it.

To be honest, these aren’t the greatest machines ever built; by the same token neither are the Bekos. Rule of thumb is surely you get what you pay for. Amongst the trade the popular choice at the moment is Bosch – the 1200 spin machine is around the £300 mark with a two year guarantee and is pretty reliable. Zanussi and Whirlpool are perfectly adequate; the best is probably Miele, but you pay.

My personal opinion is that anything under £250 just won’t last, so set yourself a decent budget.

Balay is part of the Bosch group of companies. The name was normally sold through Comet from memory. Both of these companies operate spares supplies.

Computer board is p/no C00084331, email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering. You have to swap the eeprom across from the old board as well.

It is worth getting the board out of its housing – blown tracks are a regular problem on these machines.

For the benefit of future readers, we cannot condone working on the machine “live”.

Digi board, it’s always to do with digi boards on these things…… Quite cheap from SEME though. 🙂

Start with the basics – get it fully defrosted and see whether the ice reforms quickly or not. If it ices up rapidly, it would suggest problems with the temperature control circuits. Thermistors or PCB likely culprit, engineer time if you’re not sure how to diagnose. Check repairs@ or Directories for a repairer in your area.

Power off if you wish to investigate further.

Choochoo is quite right. The hinges are p/no C00031025 (There’s a lovely picture for Connect users) and there is no locking mechanism. I presume that the only way to do this is to manually overcome the spring on the upper arm by inserting them into the guides and levering the door down, whilst an extra pair of hands steers the bottom mounts into place.

    Truly, a design masterpiece.
    Good luck,

    Re: F&P 603 washer

‘Fraid I’m half a world away – so I have no idea about prices. I do know that the control boards are available as reconditioned units which always saves a bit. I think you need to at least to speak to your local service engineer and get an idea of prices.

    Good luck,

    Re: F&P 603 washer

Code 1 is a fault in the control module according to the book. As this is an expensive component I would definitely get pro help to confirm the diagnosis – maybe a local independent if the F+P guy is being reluctant.

Power off if taking the deck off please.

Bosch is decent enough stuff. A lot of the indies are coming round to them. Gorenje is a newish name on the market with a decent reputation for a quality product at a sensible price.

An unfortunate expression with regard to your recent experience, is that by and large you gets what you pays for, so don’t go too cheap.

It’ll be a replacement panel. Post up the model number (probably on the roof of the oven box 🙁 ) and spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will be able to help you out.
