Mains terminal block where the power comes in?

Find the “ADP—-” reference and spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk should be able to source it for you.

The motors drive shaft seems to spin fine but spinning the drum sounds like driving up the motorway with noisy tyres – it rumbles, although doesn’t appear to be any play or drum movement on the back bearing that sits behind the belt pulley wheel.

    Yup, drum bearings for sure

Remraf wrote:To get the drum out looks like an all day job to me, not having done it before.

Yes, time, patience, diagrams and pictures if you’ve never done this before.

Remraf wrote:Don’t see how you can check if the shaft is chewed up until it’s all dismantled,

Nope, you can’t…. If the drum isn’t flopping about all over the place when handled from the front, there is a reasonable chance it’s OK but you can’t be sure until you see it.

Remraf wrote:changing the complete drum and bearing unit sounds like a good but expensive idea,

    Not a cost effective solution………

    Any thoughts? 😕

You really need to strip it first – it’s the only way. If you decide to go ahead, email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk with the 12nc number (starts 85—–) to be sure of getting the right bearing set.

    Re: Neff Dishwasher Leaking

Tricky – covers off and observation is the only way. It can overflow from the union of the fill matrix and the transfer pipe if it gets gunged up (Unlikely after 50 washes unless you have a manically high cholesterol diet). Salt chamber retaining nut (Not the cap, the collar under it) can cause some interesting leaks if it works loose. If the base is filling up quickly, you should be able to spot it. Drip, drip, drip leaks can be an absolute pain…..

Power off for anything other than observation.

Drain pump is accessible by removing the lower front cover plate. The pump is a twist fit. You’ll probably find some sort of foreign body.

    Power off first.

Re: Boach Exxcel 1400 faulty motor?

    Nope….

Poor seating of new brushes is a known issue with Bosch motors. I would suggest that WL removes the motor again and has a look at the brushes which he has fitted. He will probably find that the only shiny area on the brush tip is the back edge of the chamfer. This will not provide enough contact area to allow enough current to flow (cleanly) to the armature – the computer works this out and cuts off the spin sequence.

You either shell out for genuine Bosch carbons at a considerable price premium, or take a chance and adjust the chamfer angle on the ones you’ve got with a fine file. If you’re not sure what to do, I wouldn’t.

Cleaning may help; getting out all of the residual carbon dust in the end frame of the motor can improve things.

It is entirely possible that the armature in the motor is breaking down and that the motor will need replacing. At least the first couple of points don’t cost any money.

Stay safe, power off if you intend to resolve this yourself.

    4812 271 38415 is the W/pl number.

Machine is a Bosch, 165242 should save you about £40.

Partial blockage? Sock in tub to pump hose or on top of the ecoball; possible that sink coupling is choked (if appropriate).
