ParticipantRe: AEG LAVAMAT – CHANGED BRUSHES BUT STILL C9 CODE
Err – do you want to sign up and become a member tfcgw? Firstly, this is a dead thread, secondly you’re dishing out technical advice without any validation of your expertise, and thirdly I have never had to indulge in any form of reset procedure on any AEG appliance. Ever. Even after 19 years.

ParticipantRe: Smartdrive 051 drum fallen
It more or less has to be the drum suspension springs, especially as the appliance has been moved. The top deck has to be removed (with the power off) to allow access, but should be a straight forward fix when you can see what’s going on.

Warne used to play in the Lancashire leagues as a batter. Apparently his leg spin got carted all over the place.

ParticipantRe: condenser
The room is very small – make sure that the door is open when appliance is running – this will allow air to circulate more freely. In addition to the checks you have already made, check the channel through the door for excess fluff.

Wey hey, got ’em – skin of the teeth or what? Quite why the professional bowlers can’t remember what they were taught at club level I will never know – bowl straight at the tailenders and they’ll get themselves out. Still 1-1 – all to play for. 😀

ParticipantRe: Sibson Sept 2005
Hi chaps,
I am back from a week in Cornwall, somewhat refreshed and now with a computer that works at something above walking speed.I was pleased at the compliment at being asked to deliver the address, but in all honesty I’m not fussed about who actually does it.
I note from earlier in the thread that Ken wishes to emphasise the AC being a back stop, in case all else fails. I feel that we should point out the other things that the AC could be doing as well in order to maintain a “positive spin” on things, as well a potted history of developments over the last six months to make the current situation clear. This is the lead off after all.
Copy me a rough when you’re ready, and we can all add/subtract/alter as usual.
Cheers,

ParticipantRe: Hoover D8192 Timer
If it is the Creda type one, the timer will stick if the heater safety is knocked out (expansion bar on element).

If we could just do something about the waddle, we’d be bloody perfect.

What have you tested? What appears to be a thermostat on the heater box is in fact a thermistor, which should show a reading in the kohm range. Shorting it out gives zero resistance, which the computer will identify as a fault. Thing to check is the fabric sleeved wire leading to one of the heater terminals as this contains a singleshot microtemp as a safety cut-out, and fails quite regularly. A few of the latest machines do have a one-shot cut-out which looks like a thermostat instead of the cable; these should read 0 ohms, near as spit.
For the benefit of other readers, power off for testing please.

ParticipantRe: Whirlpool F8 error
Hi Rose,
The error displayed relates to a failure in the water level control system. Was there a lot of foam remaining in the cavity when the service wash was finished? If there was, it probably thinks it’s still full of water when it should be empty.Things you could try – set the programme and start, you should hear the drain pump running. If it does, open the door (the programme will “hold”) and empty in a saucepan full of water. This may well dilute any remaining foam and allow the water level system to reset when the pumping finishes.
Even leaving it alone for 24 hours might do the trick, as the foam will break down over time.
Failing that, it’s coincedence and a technical failure has occured. If this proves to be the case, check repairs@ or Directories fro a UKW repairer in your area.

Regret this is not available as a separate item (infuriating).

is the heater assembly – not too dear and includes a modified safety cut-out.
Power off for fitting please.

ParticipantRe: oven glass
Hi Paula,
If you want to sort this yourself, this is the stuff you need:http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … cts_id=302.
All old sealant must be removed and surfaces spotlessly clean.
If you’re not confident, check repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

Ah, sweet irony – I don’t re-use the clampband; I fit a Zanussi gaiter spring instead…………..

3 possible places to look Ian – open the door and see if there’s a label – the long number starting with 9 is the one Dave wants. If it’s not there, open the filter flap – the slightly older ones have the label on the inside of the flap. Failing that, there may be a label on the rear of the machine up at the top.
