In one sense, it doesn’t matter which you buy, as you are purchasing the same basic box/tub/motor etc. Only the control circuitry differs across the range, so choose on the basis of what you need the machine to do for your household needs – do you really need delay start/extra light glass only programme for instance?

I take it you didn’t clear the bottom transfer hose as per your previous thread?

Yeah, its the diagphram/microswitch set up, and the water weeps in round the corners. No point in using sealant – the seal’s got to move.

Re: How long do manufacturers have to supply spares?

Back in my Comet days, it was seven years from cessation of production (not sale); and it was ruthlessly applied – Newpol spares would be skipped (I know – don’t start!) literally a day after the relevant date. But – manufacturers can take advantage too. Some of our older members may recall that Hoover made the “small hole” drum pulley that fitted the 1100 taper bearing machines “NLA”, and 7 years had not passed. They got away with it by supplying a “suitable spare part” – an entire ball bearing 4.5kg drum and backplate. For those used to spending £3.50 on a pulley, this was a bit of a shock – £32 + VAT trade IIRC (£70 odd retail) – cheap now, but damn near caused a riot then.

The manufacturers will always find a way…………

Re: Zanussi DW930 Fill Problem Error code A5

The fill matrix is located under the left hand side panel of the machine. A visual inspection usually reveals black deposits coating the lower section – these cause partial blockages and divert water into the valve shut-off system. It is almost impossible to flush out the matrix – people have removed them and used garden hoses, shower heads and even jet washers that I know of! If you have the patience, feel free……… Also, the transfer tubes under the machine will need to be cleaned out.

Power off, of course and good luck.

With the machine pulled out, select last rinse. If the pipe gradually warms up, it’s the wrong wat round………………

Thermistor reading is within tolerance – you get a new one supplied with heater kit anyway. P/no is 1602026 – PM to spares@ukwhitegoods.com will get things moving for you.

Re: Zanussi DW930 Fill Problem Error code A5

    Hi Henry,
We seemed to have missed this one. Basically, A5 is no fill within the time allowed, and is an awkward one to solve. There is no float shut-off on these, but there is a pressure shut off on the valve. This can shut off on a nuisance basis given the age of the machine; the fill matrix can become choked with detritus over the years, causing the pressure system to the valve to be activated; the fill hose also has a shut-off system……

The main problem with this is age – the matrix is c. £80 + VAT, so the problem you have is whether it’s worth investing significant sums into an older appliance. After all, if it goes wrong in 6 months time, you risk it turning into the “old car trap”.

Show him the threads by all means – if your chosen repairer is not a UKW member, tell him to sign up!

BTW, all the people who have replied to you are professional repairers, so we’re not exactly sciving off for the weekend……. 😆

Let us know how it pans out – we love a happy ending.

Mojo – turn it off…….. So far you’ve posted 3 different lots of codes; it all points to the computer having a fit. With the best will in the world, you need to get some pro help – check Repairs@ or Directories for a UKW engineer in your area.

If the computer has gone barking, it’s not the end of the world as reconditioned units are available at rather more sensible prices than Ariston charge. Also, discuss charges with your engineer before the visit so as you have an idea what to expect.

Re: Miele Novotronic W 838 error code

    Bit complicated that Thor……….

At an educated guess, the fault may well be in the temperature/heater circuits. If you can bear with us on this, we will try and get some information. Miele as a company are notoriously difficult to get technical information from.

FP is failure to drain in the allowed time. Drop the drain hose down as low as it will go – gravity should let the water run out into a wsashing up bowl. When empty remove filter behind circular panel bottom right and see what you find. A torch is useful to see right inside.
