Re: DE Dietrich VZ.9456 Water not draining

It’s a Fagor-Brandt. Water leak into the tray under the machine will operate a float switch mechanism, which will lock the controls until the water is drained and the switch re-sets.

Power off, drain undertray, find leak.

Re: hotpoint aquarius fdw60 error code 3& 5

It’s code 5, which is down as the filter block error. Possible causes are choked filters (you’ve checked that), pressure switch not working, high-pressure switch not working (both could be blocked or switch failed) and the circulation pump not running. If none of these apply, the pcb has a fault and will need to be replaced.

    Power off before investigating, please.

It’s just a standard gas capillary mechanical thermostat, p/no 6222155 – you can get one HERE.

    Power off first, of course.

Of course not! Still, if it’s 8 months old you are still in the full warranty period, so you should not need to pay anything at all.

Remove lower cover panel (the one with the hole cut out of it). Heater should be to the right. No need to remove – disconnect power and the leads to the heater to avoid back readings and test across the terminals.

If there is a safety thermostat, it’s round the back of the sump moulding.

With respect, heat was the first thing that kwatt mentioned……. 😀

Resistance test through element is your starting point – typically c.25ohms is good. Have a look around whilst underneath, there may be a safety thermostat with a red re-set button needing pressing.

Machine shouild fill to halfway up the salt cap. With the power off, check that the motor is free to turn with slight resistance. If it’s free to turn, the motor capacitor will almost certainlt be the culprit.

Water level sounds about right TBH. Have you had the top spray tube off?

The bitumen insulation slumps with the heat – nothing to worry about.
