    Quick update –
I changed the decalcifier 16 months ago and warned her against putting anything apart from dishwasher salt in there.
Went back today to change the collapsed door lock and had a quick look in the salt pot and all was well.
    Thanks again, chaps.

    Thanks, Graham.
He has replaced it, but I think he kept hold of it just in case, so I’ll get back in touch.

    Thanks, chaps.
Tried that over the phone – child lock on and child lock off, but the fault is still the same.

It’s not worth forking out for two pcbs, though, so it looks like a replacement.

Probably something stupid like a capacitor, too, but there’s no obvious signs of any damage to either pcb, unfortunately.

Digging around the internet, I found a Romanian website, http://www.componente-accesorii.ro/comp … W47375.htm giving part numbers:

    Display module 481213018696

Control module 480121104103 (equates to 481221458615 on MasterPart)

These part numbers are obtainable through our UK suppliers …

❓ But which one is causing my fault, please? ❓

    Thanks, Don.
I put it as a Hoover as I thought it would be on the GIAS site, with it being made by them.

    Re: Howdens hja8703 Dryer problem

Letting agents called me out to one of these to quote for a new dryer motor. Apparently previous engineer tolsd them they needed one.

Upon investigation I found the dryer motor is fine, but it needs a new dryer fan and fan housing, as somethings been stuck in there and rather chewed it up.

But tenant told me they have previously had an engineer out to it every 2 or 3 months, who would just reset the stats on the top and wait for the next callout.

So could someone send me some tech info on this machine, please, including any relevant tech bulletins?

And also can somebody supply me with the part numbers for the fan and fan box?, since I’ve been trying for over 2 years to get access to GIASTech, but because I’m a sole trader independent who can’t guarantee I’ll be spending £3000+ per year with them, they don’t seem to want to know!

    Thanks,
    Pigpen.

PINKY wrote:Agree with Martin. Your find a triac with a blown top if you look carefully. If your lucky it will be the dispenser otherwise it’s usually diverter motor on the heater box 😥

Has anyone had any joy replacing this triac?
If so, is there a part number for it, or have you scavenged one from an old board?

I’ve got one with a blown diverter valve triac!

She can’t remember what cycle it was on – she’s waited a couple of months to call me.

I’m assuming the 85deg is a protection stat, since it’s protruding between the arms of the element.

Since this has an old clockwork timer, though, does it still wait until it reaches temp before moving on, or should it move on and finish the cycle irrespective of the temperature?

    Thanks, Martin.
That’s the area I was suspecting at first, but it all seems to be operating as required in that area. As I say, what little water is condensing in the condensor is getting moved efficiently up to the collector tank.
Further scrupulous cleaning of that area will follow, however, to see if it makes any difference.

Float m/sw is working OK, but the float’s not getting high enough to activate it in any case.

    Thanks,
