ParticipantRe: Scratters Charter?
I think that there will be more trouble with trying to reclaim rentals if the courts decide these are ‘essentials’.Perhaps we might get a legal clarification on this matter.I believe that ‘rent to buy’ is riskier than just renting (where the appliance remains the property of the people renting it out).Must admit I panicked a bit when I heard about cookers being an essential item as I had delivered a new cooker to a tenant who said it kept burning her cakes, tried to explain to her that fan ovens are a different to plain ovens but it fell on deaf ears. The landlady wouldnt pay the bill-she pleaded the poor old lady routine but turned out to be a tough old biddy.Reclaimed the cooker friday – tenant now has no cooker and will give landlady earache – what a shame.

ParticipantRe: A return of the BAD old days
Found that fitting a non-gen fan motor with the the tin fan on neff and bosch ovens are better than the originals as well as being a lot quieter – cant understand why they fitted the cast aluminium fan -a swine to remove and usually noisy.A rare case of non-gen better than gen(and easier to swap).

yep invoice says 973914603301-00/8 PCB.Configured.EWM2000EVO. I’m going back tomorrow to double check the wiring and with a spare motor also a working fascia board.I didnt have a lot of time on Saturday morning as the customer was having a kids party and I was ‘in the way’.This job would be easy if it wasnt for people.

50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} more efficient on power but takes a lot longer to dry hence belts and bearings going more often. As they say up here ‘you dont get owt for nowt’ but hey-ho more repairs for us.

A banker,a daily mail reader and a refugee go for a snack. On the table are coffees and twelve biscuits. The banker grabs eleven of the biscuits and turns to the daily mail reader and says ‘Watch that refugee he’s after your biscuit.’

ParticipantRe: Rent girl…ever felt had..
The most common one is the blocked pump. The landlord blames the tenant, the tenant says its nothing to do with them the landlord should pay, send the bill to the landlord (even if they have asked you to do the job) no money forthcoming. You’re in the middle out of pocket. An unscrupulous friend says fit a new pump every time and if the landlord doesnt pay take him to small claims. No sympathy for these barstewards theyre top of my list as worst payers.

ParticipantRe: Fix This…
This all seems to be reminiscent of those concept cars that you used to see at the motor show. Loads of people thinking wow but they were just there to advertise the brand, they were never made but looked good.To be much more succinct a lot of this sort of thing is just designer’s crap – all done on a computer and it seems to occur everywhere these days. With my other hat on-I tile bathrooms and I come across designer bathroom furniture – square toilets(the water doesnt go round the corners so not to the front) baths with the taps on the side, great until you bark your shins on them when you stand up.But they look good in the catalogue. The point is the designer makes the picture then they make the product there is no testing-the customer does that.It used to proceed roughly :Invention-developement and testing-product.Somehow designers have become more important than the inventors and engineers.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 9605 Top Loading w/m Spin Problem
On the spin cycle you should hear the brake solenoid ‘clack’as it releases the brake arm. Also the lid switch has to be made for it to spin.Open the lid and make the lid switch with a small screwdriver, start spin, if the agitator tries to agitate back and forwards but the whole drum turns slowly there’s a broken spring in the gearbox.Failing this the whole gearbox turns in the alloy support tube and this could have siezed.Replacing the clutch shoes is by far the cheapest and easiest repair.

Curioser and curioser, I returned today and fitted a programme selection board with the same serial numbers on it from an identical machine and lo and behold all the programmes are in their correct positions.Customer said she bought the machine brand new ,I just wonder whether the selection board was wrong from new as she said she only ever used the noncolourfast prog.
