jims right, had the board fault too, if you change the board change the interlock as well.

jim, not wrong, just posting the feed back i’ve had from hotpoint customers. it just maybe an unhelpfull customer service operator.

ParticipantRe: Replacing Hotpoint bearings
checking the age of the machine is ok but i’ve had more thsn a few customers who know it’s less than 5years old but don’t have proof of purchase. when they ring the un-help desk they don’t get the service without puchase date!

wm washing machine bearings can be a doddle if, and it’s abig if, you can get the old bearings out! the “if” is the inner bearing outer shell can “weld” itself to the tub sleeve and cannot be knocked out. try spinning the drum by hand if you feel or hear a “lumpy” sound it will be the bearings, if you don’t it may be a cracked drum spyder.
please post results.

ParticipantRe: hoover c/d mod. HNC 380
tim, did the pulleys and it got rid of the noise, didn’t do the back bearing. so i might get a recall…we’ll see. 😉
thanks for info. 🙂

adrian, thought of that but as it was a “while you’re here job” i thought it would be quicker to try throgh the porthole…is the panel off the way to get the clamp back on easier..of course there would be more room but the spring is very strong.

not familiar with your model…however…take the lid off,POWER OFF of course, see if the outer drum is two halves screwed together, if it is then it maybe a hotpoint variant ie, a WMA tub, if so you have to get the whole drum out , unscrew the outer tub so it’s in two halfs and buy a rear half!! screw new back and original front back together and re assemble…not realy a diy job. if by any chance you don’t have a “splt” outer drum you still have a job again not suited to a diy fix. have a look an post findings.

ParticipantRe: smoke/clanging noise/ washing machine Candy ce 104
sorry, all seems to point to failed bearings!!!!, the door seal really has no other function than to keep the water in. unless it is badly distorted it should not affect the drum rotation.. the bearings are mounted at the back of the outer tub and the shaft from the inner drum is supported by them so if the bearings crack or disintegrate the inner drum will not rotate freely. if the bearings collapse completely the shaft jams, the belt from the motor, which is rotating, still tries to turn the drum and either snaps the drive belt or you get the smell of burning rubber.

ParticipantRe: smoke/clanging noise/ washing machine Candy ce 104
power off…open door and spin the inner drum by hand. it should rotate freely, if no free spin, hold drum at the bottom and pull and push it backwards and forwards, there should only be a slight movement. if a) drum does not spin freely or b) there is excessive movement then the drum bearing are probabaly faulty.
post results.
thanks

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint WM64 / Help needed please
blown or faulty door interlock us usually caused by a fault on the timer board on these machines. the comfirmation of a faulty board is bunrt tracks on the board and/or burnt edge connectors. cure is replace board/timer and door interlock.
POWER OFF of course if you decide to check the timer/board.

ParticipantRe: What’s Reasonable I wonder ?
when i get a no show when i arrive to a confirmed appointment and then the customer makes another appointment i always ring either befor i start out or when on the way, no answer or answering machine i don’t go. as you have had a previous no show and you took the machine away, this visit is the third, didyou get paid when you took it back? she at least owes you £25 and then the cost of the next visit..awkward i know but business is business. best of luck.

ok thats fine, i didn’t tip it back as it was a truely awfull installation and had been “fitted ” by “a mate” ..it seemed to be an old d/w and if i did get it out and found a leak i doubt if the customer would bother to get it fixed as he plans to change the kitchen anyway,,
thanks again for both your postings.

ParticipantRe: whirlpool d/w adp4601
had this with an indesit…check the feed tube to the top spray arm and the spray arm itself, if there is food debris or any blockage there can be too much water in the bottom of the d/w and it leaks into the bottom door seal chanel and then runs out down the two front corners.
