ParticipantRe: Fridge advice – Liebherr vs. AEG
I have to agree with Ken, Liebherr is the way forward. They have to be world class. If you can afford them you will not be disappointed.

A 0830 call on a bank holiday Friday morning is not the time to get the best out of me….. 👿

ParticipantRe: 1000’s still blissfully unaware!
A lot of people are blistfully unaware of the dangers or electricty, they’re not going to be too bothered about a recall. I got a job to a Beko fridge/freezer at the height of the recall last year. Customer had seen it on the news but didn’t put two and two together – it was a faulty timer.
I do make a an effort and whilst in people’s homes, I will check their appliances. I fitted a cooker the other month but sat in the corner was a shiny new Beko dryer 😀
Checked it out and it wasn’t part of the recal – I was happy, customer was happy and told me to keep the £5 change 😀 😀
I have found a few.
Perhaps the fault code app/guide should have recalls listed on it by manufacturer – most use it daily or have it handy – easy to check 😉 I’ve got lots of pages stuck in my hard copy guide with recalls and notes etc – use it almost daily.

ParticipantRe: Still Using A Laundrette?
Discussed on the Jeremy show today. That’s Vine not Kyle….
It’s expensive though. Daughter pays £4 at Uni. Her answer…. buy even more clothes and come home every 3-4 weeks with 10 washes !!!!!

ParticipantRe: golocal reactive
To be honest. I don’t answer the phone in a customers house. I think it’s impolite and really you’re there to fix their appliance – not to take calls. If it’s important and I need to take the call, I’ll ask to be excused and go outside. Each to your own but I’ve asked tradesmen to stock taking calls while their working in my house before and I’ll do it again. Maybe it’s the way I was dragged up….
However, I don’t think I would have wasted my time to sign up to website to bitch about it.

ParticipantRe: golocal reactive
I think the news of this company has spread to the general public.
A quick search will reveal quite a lot.
http://www.cylex-uk.co.uk/company/go-lo … 68893.htmlI know they’re not connected in anyway but they’re office is around the corner from Masterpart.
They must be getting some people to work for them because the reviews aren’t all bad.

errmm I used to have one of those but it’s been over used and burnt out.
Profumo affair is before my time. I know about it but couldn’t remember when it was so I checked – oh I wasn’t born until shortly after.
Damm – that in-bulit tact is not working :rotfl: :rotfl:

It’s FD 8504 so not new. As in my first post.
The oven is imacculate – the house maid cleaned it before I got there. One of these ladies who won’t let you near there oven until it’s been cleaned to within an inch of it’s life. Not many of them about but makes it a pleasure to work on.
The oven appears to be fine now and has not had any problems since. I did tell her to stop using it with lots, and I mean lots of trays in it and to go easy on the foil around the shelves to allow air circulation. I’m sure this might have been part of the problem(s).
I won’t replace this filter now but will keep it in mind for the future. And I’ll remember about the “chunk of meat on the element.” Thanks for your reply.

That’s the beauty.
Part ordered – One happy customer.
I’ve tried that product code on the BSH site and it works. You are never too old to learn. We live and learn every day – it’s only as you get older you seem to forget more as well – errmm
Thanks to all for the help.

Ever so keen to help cutomer.
Muttering to myself – right water back on – customer runs to sink area and bends down to turn water before I could say anything. Next thing water everywhere, customer wet, floor wet, water pouring out and I had to dive in and turn it off. Customer saying, you left the hose off or you haven’t put it back on properly.
Err no – I didn’t disconnect it under the sink – YOU opened the wrong unused valve. 😡
Valve capped off – soaking wet in this weather – pah.
To be honest I do carry valve caps and offer to do it but not until I’ve finished and cleared up.
Left her sorting out all her soaking wet detergents. 😀

ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing tenants do?
I had that one simlar last August. Two days in a row no money in the meter – reported fault: Fridge Freezer too warm. :rolls:
It was actually knacked but it took 3 days to find out. That would be even more annoying – running out half way through the repair.
Anyone got 50p for the meter??? Ooops showing my age

ParticipantRe: Suggestions – new meter – thermocouples
Hinted about it to the boss of the agency and they came back to me to say the heating was put on this afternoon. I didn’t ask who was paying but we’re expecting -6 tongight and it never got above -4 here. A few quid a day to prevent a pipe burst or £100’s/£1000’s to repair – no brainer for normal people.
