    Re: Samsung rl33

I was once taught to put a piece of copper wire that runs from the tray defrost heater down about 1-2 inches into the drain hole. The idea being that a small amount of heat will travel along the copper wire in the hole thus preventing it freezing. “A heat transfer device in effect”

Only done it a few times but never did know if it worked – not done it for a few years now…..

Anyone else tried it.??.. just wondering if it’s successful or not.

Product codes 13485 Classic MARTINDALE Plug-In Socket Testers
and 15166 Non-trip Earth Loop Impedance Checker (about half way down the page)
    http://www.bes.co.uk/products/192.asp

Really checking using the classic Martindale should be about as far as you go surley? After that are you not getting into the realms of Part P testing.
(yes I know classic Martindale doesn’t test the quality of earth !!)

And oh yes lots of engineers don’t even have a mega. When I started working for one of the big sheds I refused to do any more work until they gave me a mega. One of the senior engineers eventually gave me his. Brand new, still in it’s box and wrapped in a sealed plastic celophane bag. He’d had it about five years since he’d been at that service centre…… Two years later before I left, he still didn’t have one!! And this guy often stood in as white goods service manager……. said it all really about the guy.

Re: Whats the nicest things customers do?

    Best and Worst of customers…

    Best – Smile !!!!

Worst house every been to and I mean the most disgusting!!!. Three previous engineers, inlcuding a senior Eng had all gone to this house and walked out becuase of the state of it. I was asked if I would go but line manager said I did not have to go if I didn’t want to. Poor woman was in desperation (wherever that is…) and had already been told by customer service manager that no engineers were prepared to go in to her house !!

Got there and immeidately saw why the others left…… Rancid is too soft a word… I nearly left but two young kids in school uniform that was hanging off them and disgusting… looked like they’d not been washed in months. (that’s the kids and the uniform) But the kids were happy and they were so pleased that the Mr had come to fix the washing machine……replaced inlet valve…safety check, function and out…but got big smiles and thank you Mr off the kids…but boy did they stink!!!!

About two months later another fault and customer service manager asks if I’ll go back. Went back next day (extra call..) kids were running rounds the house, happy as larry, lovely clean uniform but still living in pig sh&{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}.

Worth it to see the kids happy..

    Worst

Only one house worse than the one above… called to a Hotp CTD…house right opposite the entrance to my daughters Grammer school. Go inside, hit by stench.. eventually get upstairs to the App..it’s on an extention in the Bathroom !!!!!….. I knelt down to uplug appliance and knelt in dog sh{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}$. It had a hard crust on it but when I broke the crust the smell made me start to wretch… ran downstairs outside to fresh air wretching and eventually vomited just outside customers front door…… in front of my daughter and all her class mates coming out of school…….!!!

Went back inside, removed extension cable from Bathroom, picked up tool box and went outside. Wrote out job sheet…Engineer left due to conditions and explained dangers of running the TD in bathroom the way she was (not a big bathroom and app was next to the bath/shower… extention connedtor had water marks all over it)..Never went back… My daughter was not impressed.

Another Engineer went back a few day later but said the place was fine and I must have made it all up….. Seen the woman a few times when I’ve had to go to the school…just can’t get that dog sh{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}^ out of my mind.

    Iain,

You might want to try this site…. http://www.showerdoc.co.uk/
They’re great and will answer e-mails regarding faults. However, unless you are 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} happy with what you are doing, you must get a qualified person in. Electricty kills and doesn’t take any prisoners…it’s even deadlier when water is involved !!!!!!

    Power off before ANY investigation………

    Re: Connect what a joke!

I’m now in two minds about Connect.

The other day I l had literally just got off the phone to Europart (Maddocks) setting my account and I get a call from a Connect Sales person trying to persuade me to open a Connect account. (Are they connected or was it a fluke???)

I’ve completed the application and it’s waiting to be fax’d back to them but are Connect ok to deal with? Salesman (which normally puts me off straight away) was a bit pushy and cold called me. Also I only seem to see people having prolbems with Connect…. not seen too many comments about other supplies.

Masterpart have been absolutely great to deal with. I had a problem with parts delivered to the wrong address by courier. The problem was eventually solved but MP returned every one of my calls and e-mails in good time and also gave me their Geographic number to call them back on!!!

Should I just bin the Connect application??

    Re: Hotpoimt WD860. Flood Dispenser

Went to an Ariston Washer Drier with EXACT same symptoms yesterday – Checked emptying rate(into a bucket) and it seemed ok and convinced myself it was a board fault. Thought just check to make sure nowt in sump – kids socks in sump and sump filter all gunged up. It was connected to spiggot so maybe that extra little resistance when attached to the spiggot made the difference.

Customer rang up today – over the moon as it’s working a treat and she wants me to drop off more business cards next time I’m passing.

    Jim,

Your’re correct with the part number,I miss typed. It is C00049824 for the side terminal switch. Does it only list one switch or both ? It’s the switch for one of the smaller plates and is second from top down. Are they all listed as 7 position switches? (no help with the diagrame though)

I’d like to get the hob fixed but obviously got to get the part correct first time. I’ve tried everywhere to get a picture of the side terminal switch but no one’s got one. You’re right though, some suppliers got it listed as a gas hob !!!

A regular customer of mine and they think I can work miracles since I fixed their 14 year old Zanu TD that’s now 16 years old and still going strong.

    Thanks for your help. Steve

    Re: Ariston LI62 – Srl 209135296

Got all the part numbers I need apart from two.

Can anyone one help me with the light guide or neon for the PCB. It looks a bit like four 1 1/2″ clear plastic “fingers” all joined together.

Also need the facia which I think is c00085470 – control panel ??

    Re: Pecker cable for WM11

    Chris,

Not too sure, do the colours revert to the cable itselft???

I only ask because this one sounds like it was out board pivot mount:???

ie the pecker is to the side of the motor (pivot at about 3 oclock position when viewed from the back, pivots towards the motors shaft and is almost horizontal) but I’m sure the cable was blue??

The pecker was definately not on the motor shaft itselft.
    ????

I’m off to bed I’ll look at it tomorrow when I get 5 mins.

    Tks 4 ur help

Re: Proline TDC7A condenser drier bearing conversion

1703080 is the full “shaft kit” which has a new drum shaft, m8 washer, 3 x torx screws, rear drum felt and 3 or 4 front bearing pads. Don’t know what the latest modification instruction is. But I did see one modification notice saying replace wheels with 4 bearing pads and this was later reduced to 3 (I think due to too much friction when drum rotating).

Not sure if you can get just the front bearing pads but it also depends on production date of your model as to what mods it requires.

Maybe one of the Merloni guys will be able to update you with the latest mods.
