Re: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?

Moan and winge at me when the Bosch washing machine is BER due to it being used in a multi-occupancy house with 8 foreign workers each probably washing 2-3 times a week due to working in a stinking onion processing factory.

But it’s only 4 1/2 years old – yes but it’s had 9 years worth of work. Tell your workers not to continue using the machine 6 months after the bearings have started to fail. That why it’s knackered – now stop winging at me and pay up!

I wouldn’t mind but I got 5 minutes off the husband then 10 minutes off the wife who had to pay up – pah

Re: Suggestions – new meter – thermocouples

I was at a an empty property last night and told the letting agents that all the heating was turned off and the boiler shut down. Water supply still on in the property. Expected temperatures to -8 last night.

Letting agent, only a young lady – oh well. We’re in dispute with the LL over leaving the heating on – just leave it as it is.

Lo and behold -8 last night. We’ll see

Thanks. They do look pretty rugged. I will get a new one. Work has just gone mental in the last 2 days and, as usual, everyone wants it done yesterday. Must take it when it’s there.

    Thanks Specialist01269,

I’ve just got cheapo thermocouple from Maplins. It looks like it’s going to last about 1 or 2 jobs but it’ll keep me going until I make a decision in what to buy.

Complacency is right. I still have an RCD in tool bag as first taught many years ago.

It’s not doom and gloom publishing stories like this but a necessary and frank reminder of what we work with every day.

More of it and it might just save one more life

    RIP fella

Strange how the husband/boy friend can cause hastle.

Had one recently where I wasn’t allowed to contact the lady of the house. I wasn’t allowed her contact mobile number (he told the letting agent who then told me because they thought it strange). I had to contact him for access and when I tried to arrange a visit it was oh I’m not home then you can’t come then etc etc. Basically he wouldn’t let me in the house unless he was there.

Yet when I met him he was nice as pie but his wife was heavily pregnant. Strange, I wonder if thought he was “protecting” her.

Nowt as weird as folk – some times the “folk” make the job worth while though. It’s not all bad.

Nearly 20 mile run to the edge of my patch, tenant was late so I had to wait for him coming back despite our appointment. After struggling to get the machine (WD420G)out due to poor installation, repairing the pcb (faulty cap). Re-fitted pcb, struggled again, ranting and raving to put the machine back. One quick final check, fill, heats, empties checking dryer function test and the tell tale hummmmm of a seized/stuck dryer motor.

Turning to the tenant he saw my frustration and said “sorry mate didn’t I tell you. The dryer gave up months ago”

Told the letting agent there’s a full labour charge to go back out again if they want it repairing. I could have gone fore armed and sorted both jobs … damn tenants…

Far too much pipework. Pipework is for the boiler fitted two units along under counter boiler fit!! Not a very good installation at all.

It has a british female pipe thread the same as our washer hoses but a male american pipe thread so it screws onto the tap and then the americn pipes fit it.

    Try this thread:

Diverter is not available as a seperate item. Part no 488856 for combined heater/diverter unit.
It sound like it could be a diverter problem.

    Thanks spiderpig,

I don’t know what the old motor looks like but I know it’s now obsolete and this one looks like the alternative.

I never thought about checking my oild Comet Tech Library cd, not sure if I’ve even still got it anymore.

    Thanks again anyway

    Open their mouths !

A long term customer, said to me yesterday – “oh my, you’ve put some weight on!” Cheeky bugar. The look on his wife’s face was priceless. She left the room out of embarassment.

I’ll forgive him, he’s really not well and I’m sure he’s got a bit of Alzheimer’s or domentia. He’s a lot worse since last year when I saw him. Bless him. Worrying thing, he still drives 😯

Besides! At my medical this year, I had lost 9KG compared to two years ago so there!!!

    Re: Watchdoggin

    Figures, figures, figures.!!!!

Don’t forget that Indeset are very common machines. Therefore, by pure numbers you are going to hear/see more unusual events.

IIRC this has also happened to a number of Candy machines, also reported on here. I think we’ll get a better picture of it next week when everyone has rung in. (next series it might be).

Whislt it is a bit daughnting to hear a WM exploding (Watch Dog words) in your kitchen. Most I’ve seen have been fairly “safe” and contained, compared to the sample with black gloss worktop. This was the worst I’ve seen todate. That would taken a vast amount of kinnetic force/energy to do that damage. If it had been a 28/30mm work top, I have no doubt the debris would have exited the top of the worktop and probably caused considerable damage to the boiler and gas supply above it. (I’ve worked fitting work tops and I know how thick and strong a 45mm top is, it will hold an incredible amount of weight compared to a 28/30 thick work top – that one really shocked me)

As these machines are mass produced, the same tubs and drums are used across numerous models, I doubt very much we are getting the full picture from Indesit.

They are however, not alone and programme did not put across a full a fair assessment of the problem across the industry.

I doubt we’ve heard the last if it. It also, won’t be long before we have a notable injury from a drum seperation.

    as per the thread.
Presuming this is the metal tub machine. Relatively easy to get the spider cross piece out but if you’ve never done it before:
    Torx 40s good quality ones
be careful not to damage the thin metal tub – easily damaged/punctured.
Gloves: a must otherwise you’ll be leaving lots of claret everywhere.
Getting the torx bolt on the drum shaft is a battle in itself. Lots of posts on here about using heat and or shock etc to break the threadlock.
