I’m going to take a wild guess that you’ll want to be talking about a certain technical information thread.
    K.

Now what on earth gives you that idea? 😯

I’d also like to talk about the feedback I’ve had from customers on the ISE machine.

Well, my turnover is less than £100k so it’s not quite so much to lose if it all goes belly up. I”ll speak to Valpack tomorrow and make a decision then.

Anybody want to share [or spelling it correctly ‘cher’] the transport from south Manchester, leaving early Friday morning? 😆

Thanks very much Tom, that certainly clarifies matters.

The only worrying thing is that at the beginning you say ‘I think the answers are…..’ :rolls:

I have a feeling that nobody at all, anywhere, actually knows the answers!

    Re: CDA Oven CD601

I’d be inclined to have a word with the girls at CDA in the morning and tell them that the fault may be in the house wiring and you’re still investigating. That way they’ll be less inclined to exchange it and it’ll give you a bit more time.

To establish whether it is or not, you could disconnect it from its present supply at the mains terminal box,, connect a test lead to it and temporarily plug it into another socket.

I had a Haier -built CDA dishwasher that needed a pcb. The customer waited 4 months for that; they wouldn’t exchange it, so you’re probably in with a chance of finishing the job..

    Thanks Dave,

I’ll open it up and get the Diamond H number off the stat. That should help me get a replacement.

Was it the same stat for both models?

Did you measure the voltage at the clock, or at the fan terminals when the thermostat was turned on, ie under load, to see if it dropped heavily?

    Any other ideas appreciated!

Buy a decent capacitance meter :rotfl:

have you checked the mains terminal block for loose/burnt connections?
measured the insulation resistance? Sounds like a high resistance connection or earth fault.

    Re: WEEE & Recycling

Somebody has written that this is their understanding of the two options we have.

    1. Join Valpak for £750 (depends on turnover, covers 3 years and goes up to £1500 after 15th March). This then allows you to direct customers to the local tip, as I do now for free! You wont be able to do that on 1st July unless you are a member. This gets rid of your WEEE obligation to take appliances back in store. Apparently the money collected by Valpak (who are not for profit and are the only company set up by the goverment) will go towards refurbishing tips.
    2. Dont join just register that you wont be joining, you are then obliged to take back all WEEE on a like for like basis. It is then up to you to store it and then take the WEEE to a collection site where it will be recycled (funded by the manufacturer)

It may be me being dense but what I still don’t understand, because nothing I’ve read yet seems to make this clear, even after reading the dti and valpak information, are these two points:

1] If I join the expensive scheme to relieve me of the burden of removing the scrap machine, and give the customer the statutory information he has to have, does he have to take the machine to the collection site himself, or can he phone up a waste carrier/AN Other and have it collected free-of-charge?

2] I’ve always taken the scrap machine away as part of the service when delivering a new one, and taken it to my local scrap metal merchant. If I take option two and don’t join the expensive scheme, and carry on doing what I’ve always done, can I take the scrap machine [if not to the scrapyard] to one of the new designated collection sites and leave it there free of charge, or will I be charged as i’m not a scheme member?

If I don’t join Valpak will I still be able to take scrap machines to my local scrap metal dealer?

What’s happened to R600 ❓ He’s UKW’s resident expert on these machines but has been very quiet. Is he on holiday?

Or did he have a heart attack when he heard that Cher’s on at Sibson next week 😥 . No, come to think of it, we haven’t heard from him about that, either :hmm:

Oh goodee 😀 . Perhaps she’ll choose me to be Sonny this time; I’ll bring my wig just in case :rolls: .

But what is a grapvine exactly?

Actually, to get back to the topic of Servis repairs for a moment; I don’t think i’ll be doing many drum bearing jobs on this new ‘contraption’. I think I’ll leave those to the Servis engineers with the technical information 😆 .
