    Re: Unusual Whirlpool Oven & Hob SOG01 & SGH03

Thanks very much for the help on this one guys. The fault as you guessed is the oven going on and off intermittently. Will report back to the customer & await instructions.
This type of posting would make a good competition. Somebody posts the make & model no. of an appliance; everybody else has to guess what the fault is 😆 !
In the meantime am emailing you for those Cher pictures Bryan 😯

    Re: Calling UKW Refrigeration Engineers

Excellent article, Mark, thank you. Can I just query one point? You say that thermistors can’t be tested, but if you measure their resistance while warming them up [or cooling them down] and it changes, that’s a fair indication that they’re working. Obviously you don’t know if the resistance range is right without the relevant info., but if there are 2 identical ones on the machine that tells you. I don’t think I’ve ever found one where the resistance still varies with temp. but the range has changed. Does it happen?
    Thanks again for the article.

Have you meggered the machine? Low insulation resistance somewhere may cause this. Also have you checked the manually re-settable thermal trip?

No, definitely not. Apparently she never liked doing anything like that. Or not with him anyway. 🙁

I’ve just noticed that I actually won an award ! Thanks guys, I’m really touched. You’ve got to agree though that they’re very tasteful shorts. As the next meeting is in mid-winter I’ll give you all a treat and wear my favourite hat. 🙄

Had this same problem on a Bosch oven taken from a customer who bought a new one. Replaced the hinges which didn’t solve the problem. gave the oven to a friend of mine who used to be a Whirlpool supervisor for his ex wife and he found the guides were bent. He used the trusty hammer method and it worked. Don’t ask me why he wanted to give an oven to his ex wife.

    Re: Unbranded integrated washer/dryer help!

Beware! This sump hose [and the soap hose incidentally] has a plastic collar securing it in position in the outer tub. The collar is pushed into position from inside the tub during manufacture and is not easy to re-fit from outside when changing the hose. In fact I’ve not managed to do it. Does anybody know how to do this? The last time when I had a sump hose with a hole in the middle I cut it and joined the two halves with an adapter to avoid having to change it.

Re: Neff Single Oven not getting hot enough

No, as long as it physically fits it doesn’t matter. If I remember correctly on some ovens you can’t get the front cover back on if you fit the wrong one. I still think your problem is that you’ve fitted a 1200W element such as Electrue ELE4551 which is actually labelled Neff/AEG in the catalogue & is identical with the 2500W one ELE3354. The original AEG 1200W was immediately regognisable as it was pear-shaped like ELE4223.

Re: Neff Single Oven not getting hot enough

A 2.3kW element will heat the oven satisfactorily even if the original was 2.5kW. There used to be an AEG element which I seem to remember will physically fit into the Neff ovens but was only rated at 1.1kW because the oven also had a 1kW base element in as well. You may have inadverently fitted one of these which will give you the symptoms described.

    Re: UK Whitegoods Meeting 5

Hi Ken, thanks for the reply. As the hotel’s full I’ve booked myself into a b&b called Vale Farm, Stoke Lane, Higham on the Hill, CV13 6ES, 01455 212236, 07977 915272. As at 7.30pm Sunday they had one more room available which can be a single or a twin, at £30 for 1 night or £50 for the 2 nights, including breakfast, if anybody’s interested. It’s about 15 mins from Sibson.
