The meeting was well worth the visit, great to see everyone and thanks to everyone for putting in so much work to make it happen.

See you all again in September.

I have repaired Induction Hobs but any additional training is welcome.

I had some training on them when they were first introduced but this would now be outdated.

    See you Tomorrow.

Re: Your toaster is watching you

I can remember working on the LG American style fridge freezers, when LG first connected some models to the Internet for Internet shopping.

This did not take off as you had to pass every item past the bar code reader for it to know what products you had used.

LG also had an American Style fridge freezer with a TV screen in the fridge door.

This also did not last long.

If the manufacturers continue to make more and more advanced appliances then it should give plenty of repair work as there is a lot more to go wrong.

I wonder on some of the dishwashers and washing machines connected to the Internet,
if they will be able to dial 999 when the PCBs catch fire. 😆

You should have invited Samsung and LG to the meeting so we could have watched the demonstration of executives testing each others products.

We could then have ringside seats to the fight afterwards. 😀

Re: Hoover Dynamic cool frost free fridge freezer

It is hard to advise without the full model number.

It is most likely still frozen behind the rear panel and the only way to fully defrost it without dismantling is to turn it off and defrost it with the doors open for 48 hours.

You may find you can the push the rear panel back into place but at the moment the ice behind the panel will prevent this.

I would say it is the Compressor faulty, it is drawing to much power then cutting ot on the thermal overload.

I have never worked on this make but looking at the diagram I would say check the rear of the appliance to see if the external fan is working and the condenser is clear off fluff.

If the fan and condesor is clear. then You can then check to see if the compressor is running hot / low on gas or compressor fault.

If there is some cooling in the freezer then I would check it has defrosted itself correctly and the internal fan is working before breaking into the system.

Hope this helps see you next week.

Re: Samsung American Style Fridge/Freezer RSA1WTMH1 Freezer

Does the compressor cut out or is it running all the Time ?

If it is running all the time it could be a compressor or gas problem.

If it cuts out o.k. Then it could be the freezer evaporator sensor.

You also need to check the fan is running in the fridge compartment,

Test the fridge fan in the same way have the freezer door closed, Open the fridge door then use the magnet near the top hinge of the fridge.

The fan also has a delay and starts about ten seconds after the freezer fan starts.

If the fan in the fridge does not work then it could be frozen in the fridge.

This can have an effect on the freezer as the refrigerant gas can run warmer due to the fan in the fridge not working.

Re: Samsung American Style Fridge/Freezer RSA1WTMH1 Freezer

You can check the fan motor to see if is working by opening the freezer door and using a magnet near the top hinge, you will see the light in the freezer go out then wait approx 30 seconds as there is a delay on the fan starting up.

The compressor needs to be running when you check the fan is running.

Make sure you check the power is off before checking or swopping any wiring.

To check if you have wired the themostat correctly the black wire is for the compressor this fits on the number 4 connection on the stat. The green goes on the earth connection.

The lamp wire normaly fits on number 6 pin and the live to number 3 pin.

If you turn the power off at the mains, leave it for 10 to 15 mins for the pressure to drop, so the compressor can start again.

Then turn the thermostat off Number 0 setting, then turn the mains on and check to see if the compressor is running.

If the compressor is not running then it is wired ok, now turn the stat on to any setting to see if the compressor is running, if it is running then the stat is ok.

If the compressor was running when it was set on Number 0 Setting then you will need to swop the wires going to 6 And 3, The wire going to six will go to 3 and the wire on 3 will go to 6.

Wait the 10 to 15 minutes again. then check to see if the compressor is off when the mains is turned on and the stat is on 0. If it is then turn the stat back on to the desired setting and the compressor should run.

If you still have a problem with the temperature then it will be the compressor or gas.

    Re: Liebherr……….really?

As with most repairers I only see the broken fridges.

To get a true view only the manufacturers know.

You have to look at the Percentage of repairs to the amount of the products sold.

If you get a sensor go on a LIEBHERR you can replace it.

If you get a sensor go on a Beko it is foamed in.

Most makes of fridge freezers if treated ok are reliable, I see a lot of Samsung American fridge freezers most are never clean inside the fridge or freezer so never looked after.

They have common faults but I wonder some times if the percentage is any worse than other makes due to the high volume of Samsungs sold.

Now a days nothing last like it used to as all have built in obsolescence.
The days of fridges lasting 20years or more are long gone as manufactures would not be able to survive.
If I had to buy a fridge freezer, I would go for a fridge freezer you have to defrost and not a frost free. The more basic a fridge freezer is, if you regularly defrost it the less problems you get.

I would avoid Chinese made fridges, But even Bosch Siemans now use Korean Daewoo to make there American style Fridge Freezers because of cost, but the Daewoo are more reliable than most.
