Does your 17 year old T/D work ok from the same wall socket?.

Could it be an electrical burning smell as they do draw a lot of power and if you have the start of a failing power outlet then this over heats.

    Hi Stew,
Some people say the drum does not spin when actually to help us they should say the drum does not turn.

Does the machine do the wash part then not spin?.
The FD number will help, this is on a label inside the door.
From your initial post you may wish to check carbon brushes, and yes power off.

    Re: The Other Engineer

Apart from “The Other Engineer” many times I hear from customers who have had repairs under guaranteee tell me that the service chappy that called gave a sharp intake of breath declaring that “I wound’nt have bought one of these.

What quicker way to work yourself out of employment.

Bazza is right both sides of the story need to be heard keeping in mind that sometimes “The Other Engineer” is fictious when the owner has had a go at repairing and aint taking the blame for the mess that awaits you.

    Re: Zanussi ZWD1480W absolutely DEAD.

    Hi Mike,
Had this on Zanussi’s wee sister Tricity Bendix, machine went dead, ended up it was a failed pump.

Just last week, same on a built in Beko D/W machine went dead, due to water left in machine decided to look at pump first, found tooth pick once removed off the machine went.

Re: Bosch SGS43E02 control panel loose

    Hello Wibbly,
No this is not common, are all the torx screws held firm?, if not then it suggests one or more of the screw retaining holes on the control panel are damaged.

Anyhow, from your explanation the panel seems to be damaged from whatever cause and a new one required.

We can never know an individuals DIY ability but a new panel is available so try the parts & help desk on this site and yes the torx screws holding the panel are the ones to remove.

Whatever you do unplug appliance before proceeding with any investigation or repair.

If the engineer is on a recall then I suggest you let him get on with it. Water leaks appearing at one place may originate from another part of the machine due to level of machine or floor.

Have you checked that the soap box is clean? particuarly the conditioner compartment. If this gets gunged up it will overflow.

Spot on Mike, some months ago I required an oven fan motor can’t remember the make now, was’nt listed under model number on Connect.

Sent them an e-mail asking if they could do a in house check and cross ref the model or part. They came back saying can’t supply.

Got motor elsewhere, when it arrived I discovered a Beko number under another lable, stuck this into Connect site and hey presto up comes the motor and on this occasion their price was lower.

E-mailed them explaining they could have supplied and that I had done their job for them.

Hi John, should come up with an error code or try this, press the start/pause button and any other option button, turn the dial one move to the right.

Keep both buttons pressed for two/three seconds then release, this may then activate an error code.

Had one yesterday, E31 meaning, pressure switch, wiring or PCB.
