Re: Zanussi Electrolux Essential 1200. No water getting in

Spimps has done a good job for you so far, you say you removed coins etc, the etc may have contributed to your problem and also the burning smell.

I suggest it’s time for an engineer, click on find an engineer and take it from there.

    Re: Bosch Parts Price Rant

Getting a good tongue lashing on this one, first of all sorry to Graham for hijacking his post and yes Bagman, on this one I am not entirely happy.

By way of trying to wriggle out of my decision to charge what I did, allow me to explain.

The area I cover involves driving up long one way glens, for this customer (a regular over many years) the round trip is 76 miles x 2.

The first trip was to diagnose the problem and the second to fit the part, taking in the drive time factor this was most of my morning on one call when I can usually fit in four plus.

The customer was informed of the price and gave me the go ahead, when driving up the second time to complete the job I mulled it over many times “should I reduce the price or keep the original” well you know what I did.

On a journey like the one above my time has to be covered, so I give you another example.

To-day up another glen to another longstanding customer (big castle), Zanussi w/m not starting, requires 3 tag interlock, 10 min job and done in one visit but still nearly a three hour round trip, the bill ———- £88 plus a jar of heather honey.

I drive round some of the most scenic countryside in the UK and love it and yes sometime have to charge the customer more, guilty as charged.

Repaired a 10 year old Meile the other day required a drain pump, part cost £248 from Miele. So cat amongst the pigeons, a company called Ramsons offer a compatible at £75.

This is what I bought and fitted but charged the full amount plus fitting, did I do right or wrong?.

Two years away from retirement done it many times before so don,t tell me I’m wrong now, still struggle to pay the taxman at the end of year.

If it’s wrong for Bosch to charge more for a similiar part did I do wrong also?.

On an expanding note is the UK just to tax expensive to try and make a living?.

    Re: MP’S Allowances

Having started this post here is my next contribution.

I do think that the majority of MP’s are OK, the salary they are on at £65000 should be raised to around £100,000/£130000.

From that they would have to pay for all outgoings including staff, they should not employ family or relations.

This should go to some way of immproving the system, just to say I am what is called a floating voter.

Repaired many of these pcb’s with the good old solder iron, it’s worth a try if that’s where the problem is.

    Hi Steve,

I don’t have an answer as to why I get the rates that I do. I started buying from Connect about three years ago and don’t have much contact from the area rep.

    Re: Connections – Price bands

My average monthly spend with Connect is just over £300, I pay via personal credit card as per order so don’t have a monthly account, don’t know if this would make a difference to discount by paying up front.

By using a personal credit card I can get up to 5/6 weeks credit before credit card bill comes in.

This will not suit everyone but works fine for me.
