Re: twin tubs are back !!

    Hi smartin,

These have been around for some time now, I had an elderly customer who got one from somewhere and asked me to put wheels on it.

Forgot the name at the moment but someone in the UK used to import them.

Recession, I am finding people are more willing to spend a bit more on repair than buy new.

If the machine is live during test with lid off then I tell client to stand away from machine also if a cat is about I ask that it be removed from room then door closed same with kids.

As a non smoker if client lights up then they are welcome to stay and watch with fag out or smoke in another room.

Regarding talking, if it gets to much blah, blah, blah then I say you are welcome to look but sorry I have to concentrate on what I am doing so may not engage in conversation.

This is all done in a polite manner and have never had any problem.

As Phidom says cooker switch off ———plus just in case of a power leak switch off at main fuse board, should be marked cooker/oven.

This sounds like a previous topic covered last year when Hotpoint/Indesit were touting a repair franchise.

I was approached, listened, looked then laughed, don’t think it took off to any great extent.

Just to let you know Chris, fault on the above machine was low pressure, house is on private water supply so filters to machine valves clogged up, after cleaning machine worked fine.

Due to journey distance checked filter as well and found various obstructions. First time working on one of these models but once lower panel is removed lots of room to work.

Thanks once again for your input.

    Hello Martin,

Over the years I to have had just a few probs with these handles breaking, the last time was about a year ago when the new handle kit broke after a couple of weeks.

As repeat customers of mine I knew they had a genuine complaint so fitted new kit FOC, however I also cleaned inside the door glass which seemed to need a tug to free it from the door seal, (build up of scum) after cleaning the door glided open. I now do this to all machines when fitting this type of kit.

    Re: Newspaper classified advert sizes?

    Hi Richard,
I advertise every week in three local papers owned by the same group and by doing so I get a discount. The sizes are cm x per col width and depending on the paper they have differing col widths again in cm.

You can check this yourself with a ruler if one papers col width is one cm more it can make a difference to the amount you can get in.

As you are a business ask the paper if you can speak to one of the advertising reps they will have all the info regarding any discounts for regular repeat ads.

Also find out if anyone produces a local business directory I have found these very good for my business hope this helps.

Up here in the glens I charge £38 freestanding £45 integrated however this very much depends on journey time up one glen and down can be a long way so I will charge in relation to journey time.

I know this does not relate to you city types but that’s my pennys worth.
