ParticipantRe: Whats the most annoying thing customers do?
“would you like a cup of tea” my reply, “no thankyou”,
5 mins later,”are you sure you would not like a cup of tea”,
approx. 10 mins afterwards “are you sure you would not like a cup of tea”now moving forward husband arrives home.
he says “have you asked him does he want a brew”
he normally repeats this a few times.now i know the easy way out of this, its to say yes, but their are 2 issues here, firstly they will remind you half way through the repair to stop and drink your tea, and the next is their dancing all over your tools to make the brew.
when i received my training at indesit (no comments please) an engineer told me never to drink out of cups due to infections, as he found after stopping accepting brews he had less time off work, after that i never have.
the one i love is for some reason if i have to isolate the kitchen and say yes to accepting a brew, 😆 keeps them thinking for a few mins anyway.

ParticipantRe: zanussi fridge freezer zss75x
thanks for your help mal, i bridged them together and it worked fine i guessed prob would as it worked ok with fast freeze button pressed on, as strange and as confusing as it seems it works without the defective bulb? by trial and error, after the weeks iv had im not surprised and i dare not even think how this works out if the bulb is open circuit but hey its now working fine, maybe the thermostat is intermittent and the changing the settings of the dial put it right for now, its a friends appliance so it does not matter for now.

ParticipantRe: legal advice for gas cookers
Safety first and law second, and i cant get past the first part if i knew the cooker was safe for use id probably issue a notice to say id disconnected it and its their responsibility to have it tested and get them to sign it to say it was disconnected from the gas supply, your right Martin i think what you said reinforced my reluctance to work on gas cookers, my eldest is 18 and just completed a city and guilds in gas work and were looking for a local course in or near manchester to send him to (between £3000 to £5000! in total to get gas safe registered) and when he can be bothered to get his act together(he’s at that age :rolls: ) he can sign the cooker’s off as safe.

ParticipantRe: legal advice for gas cookers
sounds like common sense, the only thing their is how does an electrical engineer know that the cooker is safe for use afterwards? when i complete a repair on a washing machine i have to test it all now just the repair i carried out? what if the cooker has an existing problem with the gas side and i was unaware through lack of gas safe training and it caused harm afterwards? is the engineer liable because they were the last engineer on the job?

ParticipantRe: W5320x0gb neff
thanks for that, you might be right about the last one as the customer came across as the confused sort, you know when you ask closed questions and you get a higgledy piggledy reply, the machine’s working fine, i thought about the pressure vessel but as it fills to spot on level(although i now that can be deceiving), id normally check that sort of stuff but integrated and jammed in solid, thanks again.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2011/fe … guaranteed
The European Directive 1999/44/EC says all EU countries have to ensure a retailer could be held liable for all “non-conformities” which manifest within two years from delivery. However, because the Sale of Goods Act (SOGA) meets or exceeds most of the directive’s requirements, this overrides the EU directive. The act requires three things: the goods must be as described; they must be of satisfactory quality, which is determined by description, price, durability, freedom from minor defects; and they must be fit for purpose
looks like guardians got it wrong then????

ParticipantRe: Appliance Fires
Hi martin, probably meant it in more focused towards independents working more safety and informed, and yes it probably wouldn’t help Beko’s own current problems much but at least it would show manufacturers are operating responsibly with a duty of care, i personally think this should go the extra mile instead of customers having to fill in a card and send it off, there name and address should be supplied direct from the retailer at least this way the percentage of customers contacted with re-calls would increase and possibly save lives.

ParticipantRe: Appliance Fires
just sat watching THIS MORNING on ITV, scary stuff, especially Beko appliances, they recon only 10-20 percent of recall customers are contacted due to customers not completing registration details forms sold with the new appliance which for us people leaves 80percent that are still happily working away(for now), don’t you think manufacturers should be sending out independents details of fire risks? especially the particular components that are the culprit, also shockingly and this is what was quoted “1 person dies every week due to un-recalled appliances catching fire” :eeek: to be honest i think they have mis-quoted the fire-brigade that probably announced 1 person every week dies in a house fire due to electrical faults, but it makes good viewing on their part, personally i would prefer to be well aware of recall appliance model numbers that have potential for fire,

ParticipantRe: hotpointy aq9d692s
yes, i will try that, customer initially reports of no pump fault when full of water, she tried it on a few washes before cleaning the filter and after with no success so im inclined to belief their may still be a fault present? or a child etc has messed with the dials and took out spin or pump? anyway will try and post back, cheers
