stratfordgirl wrote:Smeghead, do you use Worldpay’s SaferPayments online self-assessment questionnaire? If so, it’s worth going through your questionnaire again. My recollection is the questionnaire is a bit of a minefield and you have to choose your answers very carefully. As far as I know you are only charged for the service once per year, not every time you update the questionnaire.

My setup is similar to yours – mobile terminal with SIM card – and they’ve not asked to scan my computer.
Yes mine is same setup, I do remember the last time I filled the questionnaire , there was an option to repeat the answers from the previous year , to save all those lengthy questions- so I ticked that box .
Maybe I will redo the form as you say & carefully check the answers, bit of a pain though & as you know takes some time to complete!!

    Re: Card payments

Ok, so are there any security issues with an Izettle then. ie, lengthy forms to fill & security checks?
At present most banks seem to be pushing the Izettle, maybe it’s aimed more at individuals & small business .And the Banks cream there little bit off the top to save the hassle I’m going through at present.
Izettle looks the way to go, I’m gonna look into it I think.

the thing is Ken, I don’t see why they need to scan my computer when I don’t take payments on it or store customer info either .
I use a mobile machine which has a SIM card and authorises transactions over the mobile phone network- what’s that got to do my PC?
Anyway there not getting into my computer, I’ll move to another provider in Feb .

    Re: Card payments

Have been using Card machine for some years now, but am currently getting a lot of hassle with Worldpay.

Correct me if wrong but with Izettle you cant process a card payment over the phone, you have to be with the card holder at the time.
Bit of a pain if someone wants to pay by phone. IMO
I suppose they can BACS you easily these days, instead.

I have a streamline machine which has been great for years, but now with the latest PCI DSS version they want to scan my computer every 3 months to check security.
Am in contact with them at the mo’ trying to explain I don’t use computer for payments, but its like chatting to bl**dy brick wall.
Thing is , if you dont follow there procedures , you pay for it.
My contract ends in feb 16 , so might look for something with less grief! 😡

Ok, thanks – that may be worth consideration , I’ll have a word with my Acc’.
I quite fancy the idea of running around in a ‘state 😆

Nope a car is a car not a commercial vehicle. You won’t be able to offset the costs fully.

As I thought Bryan, I just wondered about the guys who had estate’s- guess they just prefer a car & not bother about the Tax incentives.
Maybe I’ll keep the van a bit longer!

Thinking of ditching the van & car and getting a Volvo estate or similar.
Just a thought, how do get on with tax?
Is the Volvo estate classed as commercial, and can you set expenses (fuel Tax etc) against your tax bill as you can with a van ?
Or have you got a very clever accountant !!

dual height B & D workmate has served me well for years, on my second one in 25 years, the rubber feet can come off – but I’ve riveted mine on.

this is a great tip, tried last week & yes , once you figure out the fan casing removal./ less time now needed for a cap change 🙂
