Thanks mate, I appreciate the heads up. It’s stupid things like this that can catch you out & make you look a prat in front of the customer.

ParticipantRe: zanussi ZWX1605W going straight to drain
Hi Kev: if you click on the shop@ link they may well have the parts & prices listed ready for you.
When checking the Element with a Megger make sure you remove the connections to it first.REMEMBER POWER OFF, PLUG OUT PLEASE.

ParticipantRe: Bosch Electric Dryer tripping main circuit breaker
Hi Tony: The 2 most common causes of this that I have come across are bad connections that intermittently arc & chafed wires in the harness.
If you have a crimping tool & connectors, replace the bad terminal first.
Then do a visual check on the harness for chafing.
Andy.PLEASE REMEMBER: POWER OFF & PLUG OUT BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY INSPECTION OR REPAIR.

Hi Kev: Sorry but that’s where your problem comes in manuals are not available to the general public & were not able to go that in depth into fault tracing.

ParticipantRe: zanussi ZWX1605W going straight to drain
Hi Kev: This is probably a job for an Engineer, the system on this is quite complicated.
The problem you list is normally caused by 1 of 4 things: The heater element, The pressure switch, a Wiring fault or less commonly the control module.
For fault finding you need a good Digital meter & a Megger, even then you would be lucky to find the problem without a manual and some knowledge of Electrical testing.
Andy.PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU DO DECIDE TO TRY A DIY REPAIR, POWER OFF AND PLUG OUT.

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint drier
Hi: You replaced the stats & obviously checked the element for continuity.
Have you replaced the NTC & checked the wiring back to the board?

Very strange, I know from his E-mails that Andrew is busy trying to get everything up & running, possibly that’s why. yep the crunch is begining to bite but it’s weird, I have had 2 repair estimates turned down this week one for £55.00 & one for £ 60.00. Both customers have gone out & bought brand new machines, mind you they can pay them weekly but I like mine up front. 😆

ParticipantRe: Home appliance services (North)Ltd
Have only done 1 job for HAS to date a Necht oven & as Andrew said a simple machine, came as part of a package from Rock Solid.
The kitchen quality actualy wasn’t bad at all & the customer said everything was delivered on time & complete.
As for HAS I don’t have any problems dealing with them again, I did the repair, invoiced them & got the cheque by return of post as promised 😀

ParticipantRe: Questions for a PCB (electronic) whiz kid?
Hi Martin: I was talking to a coleague about this earlier, & the answer we both came up with was yes. If the Triac is being constantly switched on/off then it will eventualy die on you no matter what it’s switching.

ParticipantRe: Questions for a PCB (electronic) whiz kid?
Hi Martin: Although I have never actually come across that particular situation, I would say yes. I take it that the Triac in question was driving the pump? if so & the pump is continually drawing current then eventually the Triac will overheat & blow, as far as I know they are not rated for continual current and manufacturers being manufacturers usually use the lowest rated (Cheapest) components they can get away with. :rolls:
