    Re: SAMSUNG….AGAIN !

Have you checked for earth faults?you would need a meggar for this.
have you tested the defrost heater with a meter?
The fan doesn’t operate until the evap temp is minus 12c so never runs when you first switch on for several minutes.
Check pcb’s for any poor/dry/burnt connections
No need to SHOUT old boy it’s been a tough week !
Always switch off and unplug before checking anything.

The drain pump sits on he right just behind the kick panel so you should be able to release pump without
    having to remove whole machine.

Re: fridge temp +20 and freezer temp -22

A complete defrost would be required, switch off and leave freezer dooor open for 36 hours minimum to ensure clearance of frost. The back will come away inside the freezer after the removal of the screws, this will expose fan and evaporator.A hair dryer will help to speed the process but no sharp or metal objects and SWICTH OFF AND UNPLUG FIRST.
Once this is done if the fault returns after a week or so then there may be a fault with electrical parts which would require a meter to check them out.
The bottom panel is on clips and pulls away, you will need a decent vacuum with a crevice tool to clean.

I bought inflatable wheels and the correct diameter rod and had it welded on in place of the old solid tyres and axle.
What a difference and excellent over gravel etc

Don’t think so on this model,if you check at the rear and there is only one motor (it’s the black domed device)then no you can’t.

Re: Fridge getting too cold?? Indesit BA-12

mrsail wrote:Hi, I have recently bought a second hand Indesit BA-12 fridge freezer.

Since turning it on I have the following problem:

    * On turning on the fridge gets very cold and ices up….
    * when you switch the temperature controller to “OFF” then back on again (to minimum) you can hear the fridge stop and after a while will come back on…. it then goes to a reasonable temp..
    * The fridge then works for a week (max) and freezes over again until you repeat above?

Is this the thermostat? or would it be something else?
If this is the thermostat is it easy to replace if I bought the part? is there any websites that show the procedure?

Any help appreciated as a novice on this!

    thanks

Is it freezing the stuff in the fridge?
Empty the fridge and remove shelves, you will see a thin wire type looking device fastened to the back wall of your fridge.
Either an oblong clamp with two screws or a round one will hold it to the wall.
Make sure that is fixed firmly as it is the phial from the thermostat which sense the temperature. They can become dislodged.

Re: Differences between self-employed and being an employee

Have done both, was given promotion in my early thirties and looked after 15 engineers.Worst move I made, pressure from management, customers and some very average engineers, although the manufacture training did give me more strings to my bow.
After 3 years of collar and tie I left got the tool box out again and went self employed and vowed never to be either an empolyee or employer.31 years on it’s all whats been mentioned above.

Could be a problem, try comparing with the same model on a display stand somewhere.
You have a 5 year parts warranty.

No problem with giving free advice,I’ve learned a few things on the public forum too, some of these electronic boys asking for help who aren’t fridge men etc have given me ideas/help in reparing pcb’s.
Similar situation to when a customer ask’s a technical question,do you speak the truth or give an evasive answer.
How did Manure snatch that tonight 😡

Can’t find info on the set up and can’t remember either :rolls:
Does the back wall of the fridge normally have condensation/ice on it?
Trying to establish whether the fridge is supplied by cold air from the freezer or by a diverter valve, suspect it is the latter.

    Re: HOTPOINT FZA81 FREEZER DEFROSTED

What are your level of diy skills,do you have an avo type meter.
It would require after unplugging removing back wall of freezer and testing items with a meter to establish if they are OK.
Best to wade through the posts on this site re frostfrees machines playing up to get some idea of whats ahead.
if you find wiring a plug difficult start saving 🙂

    Re: HOTPOINT FZA81 FREEZER DEFROSTED

All freezers produce frost but in the “frost free ” types it’s hidden away behind a false back and defrosts itself 3 times at least every day.
Ensuring the full defrost takes place is best done by removing inner back panel to expose evaporator fins, you can use a hair dryer to hurry it along.use no sharp or metal objects and switch ff first.
Ensure the drain hole below the evaporator is clear.
If you do this and the problem re appears in a few weeks then you have an electrical fault somewhere and you would need an engineer.
