    Re: how much to charge?

Galway, Afriad not, its a complete change of the hub, which includes the bearings and seal.

Them hubs never wanna come out, Penguin is about right with the cost,
still worth doing if you can get the job though.

    Rocker, there’s a name ?

When you look at the appliance are there slight surface rust type marks or paint blemishes around the top part of the front panel underneath or near the dispenser unit.

Another sign is water/detergent run marks down the front of the front panel,

Water stains on the left hand side of the machine on the floor,

With the lid off and power disconnected ! marks like these on the inside of the front panel.

These are my experiences of water leaks on this range.

    Have fun 😀

Have lost count of the number of leaking soap dispensers on the Whirpool AWM / AWG range.

The solution is to fit a new soap tray and dispenser housing, this definately rectifies the problem. This way you will not be called back in a fortnights time for yet more leaks !

    Re: Hotpoint W/D – 9936

Wiring faults on these as common as ditchwater, check carefully all wires running along the right hand top lip of machine especially the orange ones. You can see the copper strands if you lok closely, I have had loads of these of the years and its the movment of the tub during spin and sometimes even load dependant that causes this fault to manefest itself.

Sometimes using a megger and testing whislt manually moving the loom you can see small sparks or hear arching !

    Good Luck

    Re: Washing Machine element tool

A set of water pump pliers will do the same job, you merely open them up to the width required and reverse them, this then makes a nice point of leverage against the tub rear and the element boss.

On plastic tubs be careful a squirt of WD 40 helps no end. 😀

Re: Qualtex selling spares online at trade prices!!

Another slant on this is that I agree entirely with the idea that we all operate in a highly competitive market and suppliers such as Qualtex can supply who they wish. Years ago when I worked in another trade we had one particular retailer who started buying stock from mainland europe. Bearing in mind that the industry I was in had specifc dealerships i.e that one dealer would be sole distributor of the dealership in his or her area this then meant that no other retailer could sell the products.

This particular dealer was making a killing importing these products from another bonafide dealer in mainland europe and selling them not to far away from where I was operating causing me losses of thousands.

What could I do ? well after some strong words to the maunfactuers of the products who told me there was nothing they could do to stop this other dealer, I myself purchased a product under the guise of joe public in the process then procuring the serial number. Once I had the serial number this was passed back to the manufacturer who then was able to identify the dealer in europe who was supplying this outlet.

The end result of this was that the manufacturer withdrew all supply from the european dealer thus cutting of both lines of supply.

The reason I have recited this is that although a supplier can supply who they wish if it then became apparent that other accounts were not purchasing due to the unstable enviroment caused by the other sales outlet then serious decisions have to be made as to the commercial viablity of such decisions .

I am of course not advocating that we all stop buying from any particular supplier but merely expressing a point of view based on what I have had previous experience of.

Why not fit a new manifold assembly ? as a general guideline how much can you make from cleaning, sticking things up and then getting another recall next week ! at which point the customer is aggrevated that the floor has been washed again ?

By fitting a new manifold your work is done and the moneys in the bank.

    Re: Connections ?

There is nothing wrong in running connections on line, that is when one has net connection ! When I am out and about I use my laptop for all customer activites such as invoicing, customer history, looking up spares, running PartFinder, TDS, and a whole bunch of other info.

Using a wi-fi card is expensive currently and by having Connections available I can asceratin part numbers and prices.
