Re: Earth continuity on older domestic appliances?

It might be worth examining the terminations where the earth wire is connected to the metal of the appliance and at the earth pin in the plugtop . Also the length & csa of the cable will allow you to derive the value for R (using the table (AppendixVII) in the IET code of practice book).
If it can’t meet the current standard I would not pass it.

    Re: baumatic bfd60ss dishwasher

I’ve encountered this model today. Stopped with water in the machine; refused to empty. Found a small piece of glass in the drain pump but still wont empty.
The On/off button switches the machine on; selecting any program is allowed but immediately after the start button is pressed the first (leftmost) of program leds flashes continuously as well as beeping. Beeping for 10 beeps but led flashes for ever; the beeping starts again for 10 more after a time.
No water in the base. The user manual says switching off and on again cancels the program.
    Hope Towan sees this.
    Any help/suggestions welcome

Great ❗ this machine is 15 years old but looks like new & never needed attention before, so the more economical the repair the better. Says something for Bosch as well.
Your usual quick & useful reply is much appreciated.

This should have been done as part of the Corgi installation. You might not have to pay if you let them know that it still needs to be done.

    Re: Bosch motor removal

    Machine on its back.
Using a 10mm ratchet ring spanner gets the bolts out quickly.
With the belt released the motor drops down with just a little force/ tap.
When refitted stand it up & refit belt through the back removable panel.
I think the 10mm ratchet spanner qualifies as a useful tool in toolbox.

🙁 I wonder how long does a replacement board last!
I imagine if it happened a second time the customer would not be best pleased.
💡 I’me thinking that it might be a better idea to pass this job to AEG.
    Any comments please!
Thanks for replies so far; they are much appreciated.

😀 Thanks Tell; your reply is much appreciated.
No problem with your memory at all. 🙂
In this case while the pushrod is resting on the hinge arm it never gets pushed up enough to operate the valve.
Within the hinge support there seems to be a roller which supports the arm as it moves in & out. I suspect the roller might be worn.
This fault came to my attention while doing other gas work; oven disconnected in the meantime.
💡 I have to return at a later date so am hoping to find a safe solution.
Any offers of a replacement hinge are welcome.

    Re: low cold water pressure

    Thanks for comments.
Situation usually arises in rural areas where water is pumped from a well into a tank in loft. Cold water for drinking & cooking taken directly from the pump line.
As I retail appliances I’ll keep looking for machines (maybe with older technology) to cope with this niche situation.
I’ve been wondering if washing machines with hot & cold fill might have to allow enough (longer) time for filling; a hot fill will almost always be from a low pressure supply.
    Regards,
