    Re: Whirlpool AWM1000

The timer that was in it was part number 481228219431 any advice if this is the right timer as well.

    this checks out as for AWM51041X; 12NC – 8570 510 15400

It looks as if this could be supplied to replace some other recoded timers but the list does not include the original 481228219301

Apart from the thermostat itself, which you’ve already replaced, the most common thing we find is poor water circulation. Normally caused by lower spray arm blocked or worn. Sometimes the cutlery basket may be damaged as well allowing knives etc to drop through the bottom and stop the arm rotating.

Dishwasher fresheners also cause problems on occasion when hung from the upper basket in daft positions.

Could anyone please advise of the timer part number. It ia a AWM1000/1:
    12nc: 857020215300.

SIOS gives 481228219301 for the above.

    Re: HOTPOINT WM32S

Am i missing something or does the spring sit onto the inner bearing collar.

😕 This seems a strange arrangement to me too; seems certain for a short life for the seal and bearing. I cant rember who / where but I think I heard of a modification for the WMA bearing assembly.
    Any comments / help welcome.
😀 😀 The ongoing technical forum I find very helpful and interesting. Many thanks to all.

Re: Does anyone check wall sockets?

I use an earth loop impedence tester to measure the earth loop impedence at the socket used to supply the appliance being worked on and have found a variety of values including missing earth and reversed polarity. It is important to do this before working on the appliance! On one ocassion the supply to the property was reverse polarity. Many of the properties I visit in a ruraly area are not yet supplied with an earth by the supply authority relying on a 30mA RCD for the socket installation. In this case without testing the operation of the RCD the effectiveness of the earth provision cannot be proven. In these situations the customer is advised to have their installation checked by their electrician. Some do follow up on this! Some do not want to know. There is no doubt that the last person out would have a lot of explaining if an unfortunate event ocurred. Best to stick to the DASA procedure but guidance on the values of EARTH Loop Impedance to accept for “Pass” is needed.
BS 7671 “The Wiring Regulations” gives values for various circumstances The charactreristics of the supply and installation circuit need to be known for correct interpretation. Just imagine how long this would take..
So maybe we need a duplicate warning notice similar to the Corgi ( Immediate Danger / At Risk) notices to be signed by the customer when unsafe situations are identified. A fault on an inadequately earthed appliance could result in someones death ourselves not excluded.
It is also worth rembering that carring out an earth loop impedance test on a faulty circuit introduces a hazard during the test.

As stated one version of this machine needs the matrix to rectify the fault but the other version needs a syphon tube replacement. Ive had about 5 of these little bleeders over the last two weeks and Alex has saved the bacon on both versions. Regards – Bonz

I am coming across this problem; a complete dismantle releiving any pent up pressure has provided a short term cure. I would like to hear the story from Alex if possible.
    Thanks

Hi Albert 😀 🙂 Many thanks for your quick attention and suggestions; the cold valve sticking looks interesting.
One machine did improve its behaviour significantly (used for several months), when used in a slightly warmer environment.
    Best regards, Tom
