ParticipantInteresting what you say about Hotpoint as we have a HUE61KS that’s six or seven years old (and still appears to be a current model). It’s not as heavy duty as the old Belling we had before it but I can’t really fault it as a cooker. It does everything it should and does it well.

ParticipantShame I can’t edit the post to spell ‘dilemma’ properly in the title!

ParticipantIt appears the American machines are different from our European ones in a number of ways. They have a detergent prewash facility but don’t have a built-in water softener like ours do. I don’t know if this is because more homes there have water softeners than us?

ParticipantPage 14 of the instructions show how to adjust the salt dosing.

ParticipantLooks like your only options are 90, 60, 40 or cold for cottons and 60, 40 or cold for synthetics. Without the manual it’s hard to know what temperatures the ‘e’, Quick and woollens programmes are but I’d suspect either 40 or cold.

ParticipantSounds like one could be leaking to earth, but not enough to trip anything.

ParticipantThe zig-zag bit is probably what goes on the prongs in the top rack for leaning wine glass stems against?

ParticipantIt appears to match the one on Belling’s spares site (SImmerstat), so as you say it’s either faulty or wired incorrectly.

ParticipantI’d be happy to tell them that I consider them in breach of contract as they haven’t complied with clause 4.1.1 of their terms.
4. What is included in a Fixed Price Repair
1. The price of the Services includes the following:

1.a repair of a single fault for a single domestic appliance;

2.the costs of necessary labour and parts (up to a maximum of £500)
The £75 discount (probably off RRP, so likely pointless) is just an extra bonus.You could also argue with them on clause 7.4 “If your original repair fails within 3 months and we are subsequently unable to repair your product you will receive a full refund minus the original callout charge”, as they did attempt to repair it and it didn’t work (ie the original repair immediately failed). This would only get you the original call-out fee back, and they conveniently don’t tell you how much that is, so it might not be much.

ParticipantWe use Lidl’s own brand Bio and non-Bio powders and find both do a perfectly decent job. We use non-bio for my son’s washing as he suffers from bad eczema. I know there are different schools of thought on that, but we are just following the advice of his consultant dermatologist. 🙂

ParticipantIs the timer definitely set for manual cooking, as that would stop the bottom oven from working?
June 29, 2021 at 7:23 am in reply to: Hotpoint TCYL 757C 6P dryer not turning on heating elements #477659tubafan
ParticipantA long shot, but is this a moisture sensing dryer, and if so are you testing it with damp washing in, as if not the heater won’t come on as it’ll think the drying is done. 🙂

ParticipantI don’t think it’s a fault as the manual you linked to says it turns off after 4.5hrs as a safety feature. It also says this is except for the special functions that are also detailed. 🙂
