Qualtex have tri wheels which I have one for stairs and steps but bad for tight corners. Also I have one from Costco that works like R2D2 and great for tight corners and ok for one or two steps. It’s lightweight.

A smoky oven is not a good sign so it is a good idea to switch it off and call out an engineer.

It could be that it’s an old oven like you said and it’s likely that the symbols may have been rubbed off. Obviously I can’t say without seeing the oven which is why I suggested that you should call him out. An good engineer would be familiar with the oven selection and may guide you on it.

Honestly, it is a case of a sick man taking revenge on his ex over the cat. Sadly these things does happens at all the time behind closed doors. If it wasn’t for YouTube, the man would have got away with it. I used to work at an animal sanctuary and you do hear cases like this regularly.

We hear stories of cat being cooked in microwave. It’s always the cat get tortured but not a dog when it comes to whitegoods.

Tried the pnc. It did not work. I contacted Lux direct in the vain hope they will sort summat out. I doubt this appliance is 4 years old as it is still in circulation and can be bought new from various outlets. I expect it to be no more than 2 years old.

That’s it then. Nothing we can do. Just have to carry on coughing up for as much of this nonsense as they deem necessary to keep the students out of mischief.
    Mike.

Hopefully not by us English taxpayers, it looks like it came from the Scottish. I think my money is safe. I think it was funded by this…

50-metre rolls of bubble wrap? Metres of polyethylene foam? Packaging tape? Just some of the gifts in kind received by the GSA in the past year. These items, from Macfarlane Packaging, helped to wrap the Mackintosh Building to prevent any potential damage from students as they installed their degree show work.

Re: New UK Washing Machine Manufacturer ?

I mentioned on a different post that the Japanese goods were very cheap and poor quality when it was first imported to the UK during the 70’s and 80’s. Now they make the products so well and as a result it was expensive because the cost of living in Japan and people are kind of willing to pay that kind of price for quality.

Imagine if Apple went to Japan and ask them to build the iPad, we would have not been buying the iPad for @£300 possibly @£450. So like someone said China, Turkey not forgetting India are asking for higher wage because they want our lifestyle which is understandable and this comes at a cost.

I say in five to ten years time we will see the price of goods will no longer being part of the bargain range. Instead, it’s possible this english firm will fill in the gap and produce a mid range product that is affordable and hardwearing.

I do not understand why Turkey is getting a lot of “Blue” chip firms wanting to manufacture their goods there as their standard of living is similar to us and is part of the EU. Few years back there were an exodus of “Blue” chip firms going to Poland to get them to manufacture their products and now Poland is getting expensive so the same firms jumped to the next country. This brings to the question where will they jump to next when Turkey becomes too expensive? Iran or Iraq?

What? What you mean loctite them in? I admit it does need some filler or a wedge to hold the bearing race tight, but are you sure it will withstand 7kg of clothes plus water tossed about at 1400rpm?

Has anyone got a spare tub for LG1480?

The one I have got a worn sleeve. The bigger bearings can be easily lifted with one finger.

Don’t really want to scrap it.

    Re: comet…again!!!

Depending on where you live and where your customers get their appliances from, Comet isn’t the only retailer that sells white goods in my area as we have obviously the big four supermarkets, Co-Op, Curry/Dixons, Argos and Apollo 2000.

I reckon that Apollo 2000 will get a bigger share of the sales as they are the next “cheapest” retailer that sells budget appliances. They are the only independent chain stores. In my opinion they will benefit from it knowing that they have fewer retailers to compete with even though they are clued up on internet sales and often match price against the competitors. I hope it would mean I get a better use of their stocks with a potential increased diversity of products to sell to my customers.

Like some of the posts says, Comet appears to fail to understand the competition and the changing buying habits. I am quite fond of Comet as i have used them few times for purchases so it will be missed.

Re: COST OF CALL DIVERT TO MOBILE

I’m with Virgin, we used to have virgin mobile and I wrongly assumed that virgin mobile calls to virgin number is free so I thought it would apply to call forwarding as virgin phone is calling a virgin mobile which should be free but it wasn’t the case. Ended up with huge bills. Most people ring our mobile rather landline so if we are local then we leave the phone unforward except on holidays.

We found it didn’t affect the way people called us if we didn’t forward the call as they often try mobile first then landline.

    Re: comet…again!!!

Normally if a retailer buys stock to sell then it’s not Comet’s own stock as they did not pay for the goods so effectively it belongs to the manufactures and they are well within their rights to call back the unsold goods. They do this on credit terms.

If I buys the spares from Connect on credit and fixed the customer’s machine who paid me for the repair. I have 30 days to pay for the parts so in reality the part fitted on the customer’s machine belongs to Connect as I’ve not paid for the goods yet until I paid it. In theory if I don’t settle the credit then Connect can claim their parts back by going to the customer’s house to remove the parts – that’s what the terms and conditions says even though it’s unlikely instead sue me via the courts.

For Comet holding their suppliers’ stock, it’s easier for them to get it back to minimise their losses. It can been interpreted as “selling” stolen goods if Comet refuses to hold back the stock for returning.

We see it so many times. Apollo 2000 was in administration then rescued, things were not the same albeit higher prices, fewer choices of products. It will make things even tougher for us who want to sell appliances as there are fewer outlets to get our appliances without resorting to the Internet.

Motor cars are different, you can trace the owners via DVLC but with washing machines it’s hard to trace it. All you need huge publicity which is very expensive compared with cars tracing owners via a database.

We are very sorry that some of our consumers have experienced problems with the models that BBC Watchdog have featured.
We are aware of a technical issue that could affect a very small quantity of these Indesit washing machine models, which were manufactured between May 2007 and June 2009. Under certain operating conditions the drum seam has fractured, causing damage to the machine.

Is it just me that is surprised that the machines lasted that long?
