I have checked the condition of the wiring so it clearly I wasn’t through enough. I will do that once I have supplied new dishwasher and take the old one home with me. This way I have more time to find out what caused the open circuit so I can learn from it and improve my repair time.

Fitted new board, it throws up as “open circuit on heater”. It can’t be right as I have personally checked the heater and it is brand new, also checked the thermo which is closed circuit.
At least the new board is responding better than the old one. I have resetted the dishwasher several times, still throws up “open circuit on heater” it was light number 2 and 5 was flashing. The insulation are fine – well over 200Mohms, so nothing out of the ordinary among the major components.
Wondering if it is dodgy wiring behind the door as I have seen some threads talking about this.
Client says “blow it up” and get me a new dishwasher! (My paraphrase!)

I’ve moved on with the modern times, you know! I simply use water-boarding method, very effective I must say.
Seriously, the client is the nicest type and very helpful as well observant. I couldn’t ask for a better one.

I interoggated the client, it turned out that the washing was fine and dryer was fine just the odd blip.
I proceeded to explore the odd blip and it turned out the dryer element has low insulation. I didn’t pick it up when I tested it after I turned the appliance on for functional checks. It must have happened after I left the property.

ParticipantRe: ESL6115 – tripping electrics
Visited the address, checked the megger on the d/w – a big fat zero!
Opened the panel on the bottom and found lots of water on the base. Mopped it up and checked for visible drips but nothing. The water was fairly clear.
The owner says that it tripped the electrics at the end of the rinsing stage before the drying stage. I checked the drain pump seal which looks intact as there was water inside the sump and it was not dripping out anywhere.
I thought that is good sign as I can rule out pump, sump seals. That leaves summat mechanical, or somewhere along the line that leaks under pressure.
Any ideas? Has anyone come across this?
I am due to return to pull out the dishwasher for closer inspection.

In contract catering, they do this kind of practice all the time. They charge the client a fee for managing their catering department, on paper they don’t make much of a profit but when they order the food from the supplier it’s really captive market. The supplier have a “mark-up” price in terms of percentage, I used to have a book containing a list of nominated suppliers that gives preferential mark-up and was encouraged to use them even their prices are way higher. It is seen as unethical or back-handed but it’s all above board. I wouldn’t be surprised that estate agents operate that kind of transaction. I used to deal with a local newsagent when I worked in catering on supplies of newspapers and magazines, it was a lucrative deal on every newspapers or magazine sold I would get 15p, I could have easily raked up a week’s worth petrol money but my conscious would not allow me to get into this deal. 😯

I am with Swift, on their book, there’s nothing on Amica on built in appliance, just freestanding. I do have Amica brochure, hopefully in the near future I will get something good from them.

iadom wrote:The TOC is not that difficult to get at and the NTC is hard wired to the module anyway.
NTC? It’s on the tip of my tongue…er …what’s it stands for?
I know the TOC is not hard to get at but the dishwasher is very boxed in (very tight that you need a tow rope and a Land Rover to pull it out!), no way of getting access from the rear or the side. The only access is from the front with the base dropped down, the salt reservoir is in the way of the TOC point. I had thought of lowering the salt reservoir but too much water to handle and too risky to spill over.
The heaters don’t kill the PCB, they are quite capable of dying all on their own.
LOL! 😆 😆

The model number is DI450 UK.C
I presume this is chinese. So the question is – will the new board as listed at Qualtex and Masterpart fit? It appears to be for the DI450UK. Please confirm.
Just sounding it off, I have not checked the TOC due to limited access – it’s rare to replace TOC as I have never came across it and usually it would throw it up on those lights under thermistor fault. The original heater has low insulation of 14mohm, so for Chinese made products perhaps they are vulnerable to low insulation that it’s low enough to kill the PCB which brings me to the conclusion that it requires a new board? Is this correct?
I do not fancy supply and fit new dishwasher as it doesn’t seem worthwhile (it’s a lot of palaver) to do it when it can be repair rather quite cheaply with if not with better parts to improve reliability even it means it costed nearly as much what she paid for it 5 years ago.
My client would be facing £300+ for new dishwasher as she may prefer to a possible £100 repair work. So there’s a difference in cost for her.

ParticipantRe: Swift Electrical Trade Show
I’ve attended this show, it is worth visiting. I managed to bag lots of freebies. The best one are the 2GB USB card from one manufacturer. If you know who they are then please post answers below…
You get bacon sandwiches, unlimited coffee, chocolate biscuits and if you are lucky you get to sample the cooked products from Hoover/Candy demonstration.
Lots of fabulous people there. Downside is that it is very cold so wrap up warm (well it was on Tuesday when I attended, who knows they may have brought in those flame thrower heater).

checked the heater – the new one is fine and everything in order. Can’t get to TOC as it’s right at the back. The dishwasher is boxed in by the blessed kitchen fitter.
My hunch is that the PCB is the likely culprit. do you know of any refurbished board for this dishwasher or it is not worth it? Oh yes it is the blessed Chinese made.

Thanks iadom,
Just had a call saying it flashes again, I replaced the heater element because it gave a low insulation reading of 14Mohms, the new one is over 200Mohms.
I am thinking it need resetting or summat? so off I go to try to get it working…

ParticipantRe: Indesit DI450 fault codes.
Without me trying to sound stupid as for the fault codes for this machine – do you know this machine has 5 leds? Am I right in presuming that this Bit100 module is confined to 4 leds to give out corresponding fault code?
If so, do I need to count the last 4 lights starting from the right to left or left to right?
Just that a client says number 5 was flashing but thankfully the fault was easy to rectify as I picked it up on the insulation reading as low insulation due to worn heater. Replaced it, the insulation reading shot up. If it wasn’t for the insulation reading, I would have been stumped!

ParticipantRe: Estate agents asking for 30 days invoice
I hadn’t realised that I started a debate! As for going to Tesco to pay for the shopping is an entirely different issue as it’s retail and it targets domestic customers.
Us engineers targets mainly domestic customers (the clue in the name as domestic appliance engineer), as for business to business they operate on different levels. In Tesco they buy the goods on 60 or even 120 days invoice and we hear how they screw the suppliers (I know this as I used to work for Asda in the admin dept). The rules applies very differently in business.
I have more paying landlords than estate agents so I can afford to lose the trade with other estate agents until they are prepared to go on my terms. Generally I give them 7 days invoice, it’s more than generous and often I get paid within that time frame. It is a case of saying “if you don’t pay up, I know where you live so be warned!”.

ParticipantRe: Estate agents asking for 30 days invoice
I was wise enough to turn down the work when they said waiting for payment from tenants rent. I used to manage a property via a letting agent, you would not believe the length they would go to screw people be it contractors, tenants or landlords on top of this they charge 10{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for screwing people.
Most of all they blame it all on tenants and still get the cream of the management fees for bad management and bad practices.
I tend to go for landlord rather than agents, they will meet you at the address and pay you promptly at the end.
