ParticipantRe: Smallest ‘full size’ dishwasher
I did consider removing the lid but some machines have a top tube taking up some space or a top weight that could get in the way. Any suggestions as to which machines would be less likely to have this?
There are cupboards either side so i I remove the MDF panel i think the cupboard would collapse.
The landlord of the property is going to want to spend as little as possible (as they do) and will probably want something like an Indesit (I normally do my best to steer them away from this) on the models available today, if the lid is removed does it give much more clearance?

ParticipantRe: D Detrich DOD338XU11 element fitting
Thanks Cab, I did think about trying to cut it back or drill access holes but I don’t like to cut machines about unless necessary.
Next time the tin snips will be used, it’ll be hell of a lot easier!

ParticipantRe: Hotpoint 5 Year parts warranty
I have heard this a couple of times recently where a customer has called Hotpoint and been told the machine is not covered because they had not registered. I wondered it Hotpoint are tightening up on this.
I tell the customer if you sent the card in, you can’t be held responsible for what either the Post Office or Merloni do with it!

ParticipantRe: partscenter
This is not a ‘rumour’, Parts centre is closing the Sittingbourne office in about 12 weeks making all staff there redundant.
The reason I moved a lot of my business to Connect is they hold a greater selection of spares for more manufacturers meaning you don’t have to spread multiple orders and incur multiple carriage costs.
Although the majority of my orders go to Connect now I still like to use Wolseley as the girls in the office are both knowledgeable and helpful and you get support from the Rep’s.
I had felt that the situation with Parts Center was improving and they were starting to get things right, I was looking forward to increasing the amount of orders I can place with them. Now I honestly think closing Sittingbourne is a backward step and Parts Center will be losing the only asset they have.
Once Sittingbourne is closed and the Rep’s are gone I can’t see any reason for using Parts Center, it’s just going to be another Connect without the stock level!
It seems incredible a large company like Wolseley have manged to buy a business like Wash vac and drag it into the ground bit by bit. This could be the final nail in the coffin!
I would like to thank the girls in the office and the Rep’s for there help and support in the past and wish them the best of luck for the future.

ParticipantRe: White Knight CL767c No heat
Sorry, should have posted what I the fault was in the end.
I returned equipped with wiring diagram, checked continuity through stats and timer and everything checked out OK.
It turned out there was a break in the element that was tucked behind the end ceramic plate, it worked most of the time only failing occasionally.

ParticipantRe: Bosch WFE2021GB/01 Washing Machine Not programing
It was just caused by the carbon dust round the brush holders.
When I removed the brushes to check condition and test the armature I blew the dust out from the area as I have found this can sometimes reduces the fault and it cleared significantly. I have to admit I didn’t really expect it to clear completely but hey who cares if it works?
So, from now on if all else fails try a BJ! 🙂

cwilso wrote:The shaft was fine and had no corrosion as no water had got passed the original seal. With a brand new seal fitted properly no water will get through either.
Nearly all bearings on a washing machine or Washer/Dryer will fail due to the inner seal failing and water passing into the bearings.
There are a couple of tell tail signs for this, one is the bearings rust which will be even more apparent when it hasn’t been used for a while..
cwilso wrote:Just got back off holiday and now when machine goes onto sping very load whiring sound heard. If manually turning drum you can hear/feel bearing has gone.
Another is dirty rust/grease marks on the bottom rail of the machine base similar to that apparent in your picture.
Experience has taught us if the shaft is even slightly damaged/scored then there is an extremely high chance the bearing will fail within an unacceptable time. Only right to fit the shaft at the same time.

ParticipantRe: Contractor Agreement
I think the problem here is he has decided to have this agreement and come up with this agreement which is a ‘one size fits all’ trying to apply it to building and maintenance contractor whereby the work is likely to be far in excess of the months rent which is held as security/deposit.
There is also a clause in the contract which states “The contractor will act promptly to requests for quotations and provide written quotations without charge on request”. I have already explained if he expects this from a contractor in this trade, there is a very good chance the contractor will make up the loss on other work which is something I am not prepared to do. If he pushes for this then I will have to renegotiate my terms to cover for this (although I am not happy working this way).
I have a good working relationship with this agent but this has come from higher than the people I usually deal with.

is it possible to remove lower plate at rear of dryer to gain access?
AlanI tried to get access this way releasing the screws at the bottom of the front panel but I couldn’t reach up to the stat to test or remove it.

The customer said it heats on low, when I checked it heated for a few minutes then It wouldn’t heat on either setting.

Thanks BSH-Man
BSH-MAN wrote:The integrated Siemens/Neff/Bosch washer dryers are Smeg :sadder: but not integrated washers.
So on the basis the integrated Washer/Dryers are manufactured by Smeg they would be Italian.
Thanks everyone for the info,
Keith.
