ParticipantThanks for that. Good to hear someone is using one of those combination insulation/DMMs and happy with it. The Metrahit looks impressive but probably too high specs for my use. I have seen the Brymen bm878 which seems to do everything I need it to do at more than half the price. OK it’s made in Taiwan not in Germany, but I have read good things about this make.

ParticipantAfraid not. You need to share your file and post the link to that file.

ParticipantHave you made any choice?
I’m also looking at a new insulation and continuity tester.
Seen some that also do multimeter on Test4Less.co.uk and test-meter.co.uk . Would mean I’d carry 2 testers rather than 3 (I currently have a Socket&See insulation and continuity tester, a multimeter and a 4-in1 loop/voltage/wiring/polarity tester). Also means my current ones are a spare set I can use when the others are being calibrated.
I’d be happy to hear what people think of them, especially if you’re using one of them yourself.

ParticipantHadn’t clocked the video. Now it makes more sense. Though I have to agree a lot of people will just ignore that filter.

Really? Am I missing something? Or is the water pumped out going to go all the way back to the detergent drawer. Sounds very odd.washingmachinewoman
ParticipantFollowing on from the Beko no life issue, was told ideally you need to use a Shottky diode rather than RS part previously given. Here’s the one I have just used on a washer dryer:

ParticipantUpdate
Happy to report after replacing the D7 diode and fitting the board back in the machine, it has sprung back to life. Happy customer and happy me for having learnt something and saved the customer a ton of money.
🙂

ParticipantBrilliant thank you, Dave.
I checked the diodes again. D7 has a resistance reading both ways. The others only one way. So it appears this Shottky is shot 😉 and I’m off to order from that link.
Cheers,

ParticipantI’ll check again, but pretty sure I only get a resistance reading one way on all the diodes on the board.
That diode on the link you gave is not a Shottky diode and is 150V 2A, not 100V 2A, does it matter?washingmachinewoman
ParticipantI have the same issue on a WDX8543130, but the D7 diode is not open circuit. Is it likely to still be the culprit?
Also does the component need to look exactly the same? I have traced part number STPS2H100 but with case type is DO-41 instead of DO-204AL. Looks like a blob on a wire rather than a cylinder. See https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/rectifier-diodes-schottky-diodes/7146901/ Will that make any difference?

ParticipantIt was only a matter of time, but it’s finally happened: Qualtex has closed my account. I had trouble changing my password and sent an email to ask for a password reset. Eventually got a reply (like 2 weeks later, and after asking again) yesterday telling me my account did not meet the requirements of a trade account, which it appears is a 5k annual spend…
By my calculation that’s £417 per month + VAT
I’d be honestly curious to know how many sole traders actually spend that much with one supplier? That’s an eye-watering number of carbon brushes, door seals and pumps…
Not to mention that they don’t have all the parts, so you’d still have to order from other places.
Yes, I know they no longer want your custom as sole traders. To be fair, I think I escaped the cull a couple of years ago possibly because I had a cash account.
There goes my ability to get parts same day (I was using click and collect, though at the moment it’s closed for the foreseeable).
So beware at password reset, make sure you don’t fluff it, or your account might be gone!

Did they say why?

ParticipantMy email to Customer service has never been answered. I was asking them when they would reopen the trade counter (I live a mile away from them). I guess they won’t for a while…
I have always been able to access the website and I have now seen the announcement has changed to “We’re at capacity. We’ll let you know when that changes”. All parts come up as Out of stock for me.
I never got told if I was gold, silver or bronze. When did they do that?
washingmachinewoman
ParticipantYes I have been using ASWO, they are very good but can be twice as expensive (think I have a very small discount {e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d}). Not sure about their 3 day delivery at the moment, they couldn’t find the consignment and had to get the part from somewhere else, only for the order to turn up – 7 days late. That service uses Colissimo, which is the parcel delivery arm of the French post office, so it could be them as I’ve heard there was up to 5 days delay at one point. Unfortunately some of the ASWO stock is only available on that 3 day service, so reluctant to order from them when that is the case. Their next day delivery is very reliable though, and their support staff are very responsive. Also been using the ukwhitegoods shop and eBay.
Also I have emailed Qualtex customer service on Monday evening, still not received a reply…

some staff furloughed other staff working from home. up to 4 days ago they had stock levels turned off on my account so all i could do is ring though orders but now at least i can use the online option
try dropping them a message and ask as i assume they are picking which customers to allow access as their capacity increases
Dave
Thanks, I was wondering if that was the case, i.e. they are open but not for everybody and I am not an interesting enough customer. Stock levels are off for me, perhaps because I didn’t order anything for 2 months due to not working, but I wouldn’t have anyway because the home page says they’re closed! My ordering level is usually quite low; I expect I am a Bronze customer as only email addresses appear in the Contact us section so can’t even phone my orders through. I always pick them up from the counter too as I live just over a mile away, suspect this will not reopen for a while. Oh well, I’ll just have to carry on using other suppliers who on the whole are quite a bit more expensive, and hope they will reopen fully at some point.
