ParticipantThey get through incredibly small gaps…

ParticipantThinking of getting a soldering station as my current iron takes ages to warm up and for solder to melt. Plus the tip is not that fine.
I’ve got a dishwasher board that’s been slugged. QER says probably main chip gone. I have the board back (a new one is on order for customer). Is there a systematic way of checking components?Lucie

ParticipantUpdate
QER thinks the main chip has blown. I got it back – now have a board to practice on.
Ordered a new one but not in stock at the manufacturer, earliest despatch in a couple of weeks. Thankfully customer is not desperate and quite relaxed about it.Lucie

ParticipantSounds like the common problem of the D7 diode. See https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forums/forum/public-support-forums/help-and-support/washing-machine-help-forum/861856-beko-wdr7543121w-sudden-no-power

ParticipantSo I had a look at the board, and the problem was this:

One seriously fried small slug 😮
As far as I can tell the inrush current resistor was good.
I removed it and carefully scraped off as much as I could of the dried slime, but problem persists. So sending the board to QER to see if it can be cleaned and fixed.Lucie

ParticipantBrilliant, will do.

ParticipantI’ve just found out myself.
Just as DWSERV I had only just started using them.
What a shame. Though the post to them and back was slow for me, even though sent 1st class.
I used to use QER and always found them good (always used to choose DPD for return of board), but with the pandemic the old qer.biz website disappeared so I thought they’d gone out of business. Then I stumbled on them on eBay and subsequently found their new website. I don’t think it’s fake. The old website also looked cobbled together.washingmachinewoman
ParticipantJust been out to one of them in the world’s smallest kitchen, no room to do anything! I just about was able to take to cabinet off. So couldn’t really see how to get to circ pump, so thanks to the OP for his telling grandma how to suck eggs tip. Very useful.

ParticipantThanks for that Dave and Doug, some good suggestions, however not sure either will be any good for my back? 🙁
No-one using wheels then?

ParticipantAh ok, thanks. Let’s hope just oiling them will do the trick then!

ParticipantI don’t think there is a problem with the drum bearings, was wondering if you could change the motor bearings easily?

ParticipantThanks Dave,
Yes motor brushes are still very good. Machine is 20 year old but has been very lightly used.
Motor is no longer available. If bearings lubrication and new suspension legs don’t fix the problem, then how easy is it to change the bearings?Lucie

ParticipantI received the Brymen bm878 a few days ago, and started using it yesterday. So far, so good. Still getting used to it. It’s quite chunky and is only 100g lighter than my 2 separate testers together. But my multimeter was starting to show signs of weakness, so the 2 testers will be a good spare set.
The downsides of the combined tester is I have to keep unplugging the test leads to do various measurements. Also I can see me losing the test lead caps fairly quickly.
The big plus is the test lead with an integrated test button.washingmachinewoman
ParticipantI would check the motor brushes and the pump first.

ParticipantYou got in before me electrofix but yes, looks like you might be able to take the front off on this one. It doesn’t appear to be a split shell like a lot of other Zanussis. I also sent you an email timdowning.
