As far as job organisation on a tablet goes, I found calengoo is fantastic for job entries, searches and generally replacing a diary, it syncs with google calendar so jobs can be updated in the office and will appear on the tablet in the field immediately providing that they have data or wifi.
i have used a tablet of sorts as a work diary for years since the days of the old psion sienna, through the 5 and 5mx series and numerous windows jornadas and android tablets and now use an ipad mini which has had 5 screens over 3 years but they are cheap to replace at £15.00 a piece on ebay but the one thing that I absolutely could not do without now is Calengoo, check it out, it is available for android and apple and can sync lots of separate calendars at the same time.

My parcel is arriving today, 6 days after ordering it and paying for next day delivery, better late than never I suppose.

I made an order last Monday 7 Jan and rang up on Thursday 10 Jan to see where it was and it was still in the warehouse for picking which was not great so I cancelled it because I really needed some of the parts swifto and ordered elsewhere, Thinking that the delay was probably due to having free carriage on the order I ordered some parts again on Wed 16 and paid carriage after it says it would default to next day delivery and guess what I am still waiting and hoping that it arrives this monday…very sad really because I really feel that they are too busy selling on ebay to be worried about the old trade customers and it may be a very unwise move in the end.
Incidentally, I have bought stuff from Qualtex ebay shop with free postage and the same price if not cheaper than their trade website, I know times are a changing but Maddocks must be laughing their bollocks off and rightly so.

electrofix wrote: I used to buy from a local firm called ESL and they used to source from Qualtex.
ESL no longer exists and the rumour went round that Qualtex helped its demise through pricing structures but they also found after they went into liquidation that one of their most trusted staff had been stealing money. Since the firm was shut overnight with no warning the member of staff in question had no time to cover up

I used to buy from ESL and they used to sell me washing machines discounted 4 at a time and allowed me to store them in their shop until needed, one day I got a phone call from an employee Charlie who said come and get your washers because they are going bust on the friday, needless to say I was over like a shot and got my washers and they went bust, I was grateful to Charlie because the only other person who told me about it was a rep from BEC who was looking for business.
Anyway, I was reading this thread because I am looking at suppliers and finding that despite having accounts at a few large Wholesalers including Qualtex, I am increasingly buying more from Ebay and some small outlets because as already stated in this thread it is as though many trade sellers are looking to move to selling online to the public, it is kind of embarrassing when you give a quote and the customer tells you that they can get the exact same part cheaper than you, and sometimes much cheaper, the search continues.

Re: Hotpoint Tumblers with the BPM motor, belt problem

These tumblers are subject to the recall and this lady is expecting a service call in June to carry out the modification.
The drum is in situ and does not appear to have dropped or moved, the bearing spiggot is not worn and the teardrop bearing, castellated nut and pin all seem correct too, the front lip of the tub runs on two pulleys and they also look to be correct, the mark that looks like a previous belt mark is actually a contour in the tub and you can see where the metal goes from rippled to flat from this point forward which I suspect has something to do with fitting the paddle lifter inside the tub, basically the toothed pulley just lines up with this screw, that would have been better if it was countersunk.

Re: Electrue and their discount software crash, is it just m

    Thanks for the input folks,
I am wondering if my price rises are something to do with a parcel that was lost by DPD a month ago which culminated in Electrue issuing me with a credit note, making me think that they may want to try and claw some of their loss back by increasing my prices because two other lads I know in the trade have had no such problems.
Anyway, I still have had no contact from them, despite receiving an email confirmation that they would reply within 1 day to my query, that was last Wednesday.

Yesterday my first ever order from Qualtex arrived.

Thankyou for replying J and sharing your experience, I have been pretty much blinkered by using Electrue over the years and happy I must say but I did ultimately send them an email last week pointing out that I wont be buying anything at their new elevated prices and that I just couldnt grasp their business model but I heard nothing back and probably wont, anyway this is may be the push that I needed.
I actually wondered if there was a software problem in the first place or if it was perhaps an ambitious account manager looking to put the bite on some smaller accounts.

    Re: One Man Crusade

Funny I was out to a hotpoint FDW20 dishwasher that was not heating last week and after testing the heater and ringing the wires up to the pcb I noticed that the pcb heater wires had been spliced and connections on the pcb had been resoldered, The customer said that she had a visit from hotpoint earlier in the year for a recall repair and low and behold it had a HF3FD relay sat next to a larger Blue rectangular looking component that had clearly been resoldered and possibly replaced.
I quoted to replace the PCB and she knew that Hotpoint had worked on the PCB because the Engineer had told her at the time, so she rang them up as I was putting the thing back together and she even told them that I had looked at it and what the fault was, Anyway Hotpoint denied that the recall was related and tried to sign her up to a monthly warranty which she refused. So I left the job having been asked to order the pcb and fit it but low and behold two hours later she rang me on my mobile and said that Hotpoint had been in touch and intended to repair the dishwasher FREE OF CHARGE.
I smelled a rat on Hotpoints part and secretly thought to myself that if the recall was a heating safety recall then Hotpoint may have added a fast electronic fuse or something that may now be causing them problems.maybe too safe 🙂
