    Re: Dishwasher Engineers 2??

So what your saying is that we are all proffesionals at own skills, you wire a nuclear reactors etc , sorry I havn’t much knowledge of this because I haven’t experienced this area of ENGINEERING, but like us like you we call make a mistake an kill someone.

Perhaps you should look up Engineer in the dictionary, or you are so far up yourself you dont know how to read one. 😮 :rotfl:

Im intrigued as to why you guys who fix kitchen appliances refer to yourselves as “ENGINEERS”. This actually degrades real engineers such as myself who are degree qualified and are Chartered members of an institute i.e The Instutute of Electrical Engineers/IEE/IET. I feel that real “Engineers” are a few thousand miles in front of people that merely repair kitchen appliances.

    Mike. (Rant Over)

I suppose you are refering to going to study and get 2381, 2391, part P, 16th edition BS7671 IEE , etc, yes I can agree that you may need these to work in domestic or commercial properties but the sugestion that us white goods engineers are a few thousand miles apart really bugs me, yes electricians three wires comming into property with typical earth arrangments TN-C-S, TN-S, TT, ELI, Main Earth Bonding , supplementry bonding, not forgeting you have to calculate the resistance of a circuit, fuse requirements etc etc etc refering to the onsite guide when required,

Us Whitegoods ENGINEERS dont have such guide to refer to we are engineers in our own right, We dont always have a book to refer to when we do We have to refer to Cam chart, wirring diagrams not just three/or 4 in switiching intermidiate as electricians but with wirring harnesses containing 40+ wires on older machines MK72 servis/ hoover selectronic / zanussi not to mention mechanical arrangments designs of just the british wirring regs but european machines where neutral is used as switch including relays etc, this whitegoods industry is increasing with a number of Nvq, C&G qualifications , like you like me I’v come across instalations where a bonafidi electricians qualified have left properties in a dangerous state, one instance would be where a Manweb instalation was wired wrong polarity , do this using a gas tumble dryer and there is a risk of explosion. Once went to repair a creda oven where this guy works as a design technical bod (HND), he told me it was the grill element was faulty, I knew that the problem was the regulator did’nt have one on me but still had to strip the appliance down to prove that this was the fault, perhaps he learnt something 😆

    Summary.
Never underestimate the knowledge of a whitegoods engineer we are professional with our skills, expertise and knowledge of this industry.

I hope this clarifies the situation and puts your concern, opinions at rest.

    Regards

    Wayne

    Re: Hoover Nextra not draining

pull machine out, lower drain hose and check water comes out get a big bowl or bucket to catch the water.

if the machine is full of water and will not drain this sugests you have a blockage check the filter behind the kickplate. tip machine back or get mate to hold, Remove screw from filter and twist with bowl underneath this would be the firsts port of call.

    Power off first.

    Hope this helps

It appears to be overfilling, pressure switch or blockage some where this regulates the correct level of water, unless you feel confident I would suggest you contact a local repair man out try repairs@ on left, he would be able to let you know if its a costly repair.

If it found to be a blockage I would suggest you do a maintenance wash periodicaly, especially if you live in a hard water area.

    Hope this helps

Just a thought , would it be best advice also to advise when power of prove the appliance is dead, if they reply back saying what do you mean this would indicate that they dont know what they are doing and could put some work to uk whitegoods trade members

    Gents and all

Personaly knowing Ricky for a short period of time, he was a very experienced engineer whom possibly made one fatal Accident/mistake,
touching an electic component whilst live , The company he worked for British Gas – Electrical Servicing Division provides every single method of protection for there employes from volt alert, to mulimeters to alphatec eli meters to personal rcd , no expense spared, again I would ask any one of us involved in this trade is there anyone honestly whom has never had contact with electricity, personally advising someone how to diagnose a fault is dangerous in public forums.

Re: Whirlpool washer will not spin

you could check for 5p peices in drain hose to sink/stand pipe , as it will act like a valve intermitanly and stop the water from draining.

Tip remove drain hose and get small 10mm socket and drop down tube.

    Hope this helps
