Sounds as if there could be a blockage in the top spray arm hose. Not one I’ve come across before though. This is normally a water shortage problem if no diverter valve is fitted. Steve.

I have checked the module, and it all looks fine. I have been to hundreds of these machines over the years, but can’t never remember one behaving like this. It looks like I’ll be taking a chance on the module, and risk carrying yet another part that I will likely never use hehe. That’s life. Cheers for the reply. Steve.

Just had call from customer. She has done all her holiday washing, plus what her son saved up while she was away, twelve loads in all, and no problem so far. Fingers crossed, but I do prefer to know what was wrong 😀 . Still, mustn’t complain. Steve.

I wouldn’t attempt a repair like that. The oly way to fix it is with a new seal 😀 Steve

Mike, Yes it is a trick I learned when I worked for hotpoint. I was lucky enough to work with a guy who did just what I have done today. He didn’t like to be beaten either, and he would eliminate every possibility. I remember he once did this and the fault was still there, so he replaced the wiring harness, voila, job sorted. It’s time consuming, but if you don’t like to be defeated it has to be done hehe. The most annoying thing is that you get a feeling that there is not much wrong. Bob, yes I did insulation test the heater, it checked out ok. Steve.

    Re: Zanussi ZWX 1605W

Thanks for that Mike. Water is pretty soft round here, not like in some places, Manchester for instance, we can’t walk on it 😀 hehe. No joking apart. I’ve been back today and been through this machine with a fine toothcomb. Checked every conceivable part for continuity and insulation, checked both brushes, just in case, I’ve had uneven wear before, motor tests out checked that there was no debris in the pump. Fill valves check out, everything. Tried another thermistor Then I went round and unplugged every thing one at a time, and tried again. Nothing until I disconnected the cold valve, then its behaviour changed. It still wouldn’t work, but now the end light was flashing and it beeped seven times, and continued to repeat this. I blew down the pressure switch, it seemed to be working ok. Then I disconnected the lower pressure switch plug and tried again, the idea being that I would disconnect each of the three plugs in turn and see what happened. When I did this, the door latch operated and the pump started working!!! I refitted the plug and tried again. Now it worked as normal. I tried it several times and it worked every time. Perhaps it is a sticky pressure switch? I have left it washing away and the customer is going to ring me and let me know what occurs. I should add that the problem began when they went on holiday and left their son in charge 😀 . So at the moment, it’s working but I am none the wiser as to why. Don’t you just hate that? I’ll keep you posted. Steve.

I don’t know of a test programme, but I have had this where the programme stops with one minute left on the countdown. If it is the one I am thinking of, it has that double tank on the left hand side, with the float chamber below it. The float chamber being blocked was the problem with this one. It has a a black insert which has to be pulled out to clean it. I go to it regularly because the water is from a borehole, and of very poor quality. One other thing I should add, is that once you set it off again, it takes a wash cycle before it regains its memory. Very confusing 😀 . I hope this is of use. Steve.

Fitted new interlock, and the fault was still there. Checked module and it’s fine to look at, nothing burnt out etc. I’m thinking that the module is the only possible solution, faulty processor etc. Any other ideas please? Could I be missing something obvious? Cheers. Steve.

Module is always the first thing to check on these. So much simpler than the heater box and is often just a dry joint. Steve
